It's not easy to get to this place but when you get there it's a delightful spot.We had a beach front cottage which was beautifully decorated and original in design.It's an ideal place to relax as there is not much to do except enjoy yourself !!!! We did go on an excursion to a local village which I would highly recommend. The staff were friendly but most only speak French (or Wulof ) and the fact that the menu is only available in French may be a slight setback if you don't have any knowledge of the language. On arrival we were welcomed with a true Senagalese cocktail.This is a place that I would certainly go back to.

Having recently moved to Dakar, we decided to bring my parents to this hotel. It took about 4.30 hours from Dakar. During this time you really get a feel for the Senegalese countryside! From middle sized towns to small settlements. From overcrowded streets to deserted dirt roads with the occasional horse or donkey pulling a cart. The arrival at the hotel was quite an experience - after a 20 minute boat ride we were warmly welcomed. The standard rooms were clean and comfortable - no little bottles with shower gels/shampoos etc. but instead one universal product. A great way to reduce the amount of rubbish which spoils the outskirts of all cities/towns and villages in Senegal. The food was good and they even accommodated our children's requests. The 2 swimming pools were lovely as were the grounds. We found all the staff to be very friendly and helpful. There are many excursions to choose from. We did two excursions - one by pirogue where we spotted dolphins and many different kinds of birds and the other by horse and cart where we visited the nearby village and one of the bakery's and pre-schools. What an experience. We will definitely go back there!

we stayed here last week for two nites. the trip from dakar was 4 hours on sometimes bumpy roads( a short cut the drivers know), then a ferry and finally the final little boat to the hotel. after that long drive- as we approached the hotel it looked like an oasis- gorgeous. our chek in was quick as it was very quiet there. walking to our room we passed the beautiful pool. our room was for three people with a porch in the back that led to the beach. it was truely great. the decor is very african- the bathroom space- very interesting open area- but there was a door to the toilet. the food was really good-buffet breakfast and though we had the half borad we did purchase lunch each day. the servers are wonderful. you should know a few things- most of the staff speaks french or woloff. only the excursion person spoke some english. menus are in french . our french speaking daughter was with us so we were in good shape. the caveot is that during our stay the hotel turns off the electricity. i did email them to find out why they did that but have not gotten a response. the roblem here is that at about 4 pm the toilets also run out of water so it was a little gross. by 5 pm the electricity was back on and so was the air conditioning which was pretty good. on the website it says the hotel is closing for renovation so maybe they will upgrade the electric system. we took a bird excursion- we did not see any birds but had a nice peacefull two hour pirogue ride.we hear the birds are on the other side of the delta perhaps near gambia. always remember if you are tippping the staff to tip in cfa not euro -and also- when we checked out- the internet connection wasnt great and we were almost unable to use our credit card- so make sure you have some cash . basically we enjoyed our stay- with a great room, good food and relaxation by the pool.

...is what you will find in this resort, and if you really need a break (which is highly likely after your arrival - from Dakar airport it's 4 hours by car over bumpy roads and then another 25 minutes with a ferry boat to the island) this is the right place to come to. Relax at the beach or the really lovely pool-side and pick up some French - you will need it for dinner as the menue is written only in French but actually it doesn't really matter: all of the dishes are quite delicious, even if you don't have a clue what you've ordered. Tours to a nearby village or a mangrove boat ride are being organized by the staff on request.
