I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at LYF Funan Singapore. The atmosphere is fresh, modern, youthful, and welcoming. Although check-in is designed to be self-service with a digital key, the staff kindly and discreetly assisted me when they noticed I was not familiar with the process. The room is compact but very well designed and has everything you need: plenty of lighting, power outlets, USB charging points, a desk, a good TV, mirrors, and even a laundry basket. I also appreciated the hotel’s sustainable approach. Items such as a toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, shower cap, and shaving kit are available free of charge when needed, rather than being placed in every room and potentially wasted. The laundry facilities were excellent. I was initially concerned that the detergent or drying process might damage my delicate clothing, but everything came out looking as good as new. The breakfast was good, and the communal spaces are comfortable and inviting, with plenty of places to sit, work, charge devices, or simply relax. The location is excellent, inside Funan Mall and easy to find thanks to the clear instructions provided before arrival. One thing guests should be aware of is the bed layout. A fixed bench is attached alongside the bed. Depending on your mobility, this may be something to consider, although it is clearly shown in the room photos. A detail that really impressed me was the quality of the bedding. Over the years, I have stayed in many hotels, from luxury properties to more modest accommodations, but I have rarely seen bed linens this good. What amazed me most was how perfectly fitted the sheet remained on the mattress. Even after four nights, it was still as smooth and tight as on the first day. I honestly found myself wondering how they manage it! I was also impressed by the attentiveness of the staff. After I left the “Do not clean” sign on my door for three consecutive days, they checked in to make sure everything was okay. As a solo traveler, I found this very thoughtful and reassuring. Overall, this was a fantastic stay. The combination of friendly service, thoughtful amenities, sustainability, excellent facilities, and a great location made it a memorable experience. I would happily stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Singapore.

It is very definitely a boutique hotel - you either love this style or hate it. Based over a shopping mall you actually enter the hotel on the fourth floor of the mall. If you're staying for a few evenings, make sure to visit the lower floors of the mall where the local food courts are. Not necessarily part of the hotel but much better than the obvious ones at street level. Just follow the crowds down the escalators for some really good eating - these are not signposted at all. We had a room on 8. We had just got cosily asleep when the fire alarm went off at 2am. Not a problem that the alarm goes off - prefer that to the alternative - but the staff assume that the English announcements are universally heard and understood. They weren't and half the guests (including us) ended up on the ground floor with no help or information in the middle of the night. We had to decide to make our way up again to find reception in hotel unaware that anybody were still out of the hotel. Fire alarm - OK. Staff training and helpfulness - scores a 0. The unfortunate thing about floor 8 - there is work being done on the facade for the foreseeable future. Come 07:00 and it feels like the hotel is being knocked down. It's deathly quiet until the start is called and then all the power tools in the world have been switched on and are drilling into your walls. No sleep possible after that. Bear in mind that this can't be heard on floor 10 so make sure you are high enough to not hear it. Just think - they don't make a noise until 7 but they must be in position ready for the off. Then all of a sudden, between 9 and 10, they stop for the day. Strange but true. Breakfast is decent but crowded and like a refectory. Be prepared for it to be busy following the start of the working day at 7. There is a communal fridge and a highly dodgy drinking water supply. If you're prepared for the boutique nature of the hotel, it'll be good. If you're looking for something medium- or up-market, it'll disappoint. The only redeeming feature is the cost. It is cheap for the area it's in - for Singapore, that's a result!

We were coming in late evening from the airport on the MRT and it was raining. The MRT City Hall station has the underground walkway to the mall where this hotel is located on the 4th floor. After reading reviews and blogs, I figured out the directions to the hotel, got in before the mall closed and we were checked into our room before 10. It was a tiny room even though I bought up to a studio. Yikes, cannot imagine what a regular room would be like. Breakfast seems to be included with a lot of reservations but from other comments, it is not automatically included with all. It was set up buffet style on floor 5 with community long tables...please bus your own dishes as another 50 people are needing to sit down to eat. Food was fine and we followed our breadcrumb trail back to the MRT to leave the next morning. The only amenity we used was to fill our water bottles in the hallway. The laundry and gym are convenient and I am not a shopper so the mall proximity wasn't needed. I would recommend it for the value, cleanliness and quiet.
