Very well appointed and relaxing hotel with excellent food (subject only to one’s own self-discipline at the breakfast and dinner buffets). Lake view rooms a must - 327 was gorgeous, giving excellent perspective from panoramic windows and balcony. Swimming pool complex extensive and clean. 5 minute walk down steps at back of hotel to cafes and to lake. 10 minutes to nearest bus stop (Bled Union) if using public transport.

The rooms at the back look onto a car park. - Very central location - Extremely helpful staff, in particular a young guy on the front desk who helped us with a few issues The less good: - The air con in our room could not cope with July heat and our room was boiling at night. We did go down and ask for a fan, which was provided and did help, but only marginally - I felt the breakfast quality was poor for the price we paid for the hotel (and the price we paid extra for breakfast).

We had a lovely stay at Rikli Balance Hotel and would definitely recommend it. The hotel's location is excellent, with beautiful views across Lake Bled and an easy walk into Bled town and bus station. One thing to be aware of is that the area is much hillier than it first appears. There are plenty of steep inclines and steps around the hotel, the lake and many of the local attractions, so comfortable footwear is a must. Our room was spacious, comfortable and kept very clean throughout our stay. On a couple of occasions, however, the balcony door was left wide open after housekeeping had visited. Every member of staff we encountered was friendly, polite and helpful, which really added to our experience. The breakfast buffet offered a good standard selection, and there was always something to suit everyone. The evening meals were more hit-and-miss. We were also disappointed that no drinks were included with dinner, not even tap water. Drink service in the restaurant was often very slow, so we found it much easier to order drinks from the bar beforehand and take them into the restaurant. The swimming pools were very welcome after long days of walking and sightseeing. However, they became extremely busy, rather like a crowded local leisure centre at weekends. It was also disappointing that very young children were using the jacuzzi with inflatables and balls, and during our week's stay we never saw any staff supervising the pool area. It would have been nice to have a quieter, adults-only relaxation space. Unfortunately, the spa's relaxation area is clothing-free only, so this wasn't an option for us. There are plenty of excellent restaurants within walking distance if you fancy eating out, and the hotel's bike hire is a great way to explore the area without relying on walking. Overall, despite a few disappointments, we really enjoyed our stay. The fantastic location, stunning views and helpful staff more than made up for the negatives, and we would happily recommend Rikli Balance Hotel to anyone visiting Lake Bled.
