“Great Location”

Grab The Ocean was our favourite place to stay in Korea. Our room had great views looking over Songdo beach and the sea with boats in the bay. We didn’t have a balcony but had views to both sides of the bay and the views were good. The room was comfortable and there were plenty of restaurants in the area plus a Blu Shaak coffee outlet next to the entrance serving cheap but good coffee. There were also some good walks including to a nearby pier which was lit up at night and where we had a very enjoyable stroll. We paid just over W15,000 each for breakfast which was served in their 20th floor breakfast room. The breakfast was perfectly adequate with enough Western options for those not wanting a Korean breakfast. We stayed for 2 nights at Grab The Ocean but would have happily stayed longer.

“Comfortable and well-located with a couple of inconveniences”

We enjoyed our one-night stay here. The weather was good in late-mid February and the room was pretty comfortable. The hotel is well-located near the cable car, beach, and plenty of restaurants and walking paths. There is a convenience store on the first floor if you need something late at night. The bathtub in our suite was big and had working jets, something that we've not always found at jacuzzi-style tubs in other hotels. The view from our 16th-floor room was great, too. Only two problems slightly dampened our visit. First, while the tub was great, should you try to take a shower, you'll find the sconce for the shower head is low and unadjustable. In our room, it actually pointed dangerously at the sink, which had a lights in the mirror. We had to be very careful not to get that area wet. Higher, adjustable showerhead holders would be a big convenience. Also, while there are six elevators in the building, two seem to go up to the 20th floor only - maybe the 3rd floor lobby and the 2nd-floor lobby of the other hotel that shares the lower floors of the building. During many parts of the day, elevator waits were long, and you could expect to wait for a few minutes for a crowded elevator that stopped at almost every floor. We began to regret our choice of a 16th-floor room. The view would have been just as nice on a lower floor, but we wouldn't have spent so much time waiting for and traveling in the lifts. The hotel can't do much about that, I know, but just consider that when choosing your room. Even with these small inconveniences, the next time we're in Songdo for a night or two, we'll choose Grab the Ocean again.

We booked into this hotel after staying at the Urban, which is in the same building. We had booked a city view. Initially, we were placed into a room with a view of a brick wall and no view of the city at all. The room also had 2 single beds, which is not that romantic for my wife and I on our last night in Korea. This was disappointing, but we left it and went out for the day. On our return to our very dark room, my wife decided to call the front desk and query our room. We went downstairs and met Crystal, who was amazing. It turned out we had been put in the incorrect room. Crystal fixed this immediately, and we were put into another room with one bed and a nice view of the city and partial view of the ocean. The room was lovely and clean, and there was plenty of room. The hotel is right on the wonderful Songdo beach. Thanks so much Crystal, you are amazing.
