I went to Daejeon for a business trip and I chose Ramada Hotel. The choice proved to be a good one and very practical indeed. The hotel is located in an area with many restaurants, cafes and shops, whilst it is nice when you want to walk around. Moreover, it was relatively near to the location of my business and by using the peripheral road I avoided the traffic. Free underground parking belonging to the hotel was available too. Thus, I didn't face problems with my car. Room (hotel has several types of rooms depending on the price you choose) was overall simple but very clean and spacious enough. Overall personnel was helpful and polite. There was breakfast buffet with tasty and good choices of Korean and European food but some more variety it was expected in fact. My room (10 07) had view to the avenue below but there was no problem with potential noise. It was interesting the fact that all door handles for entering the rooms were covered with insulation since when one was using the 'key' card for entering a small electric shock occurred (static electricity). Some proposals for upgrade in regard to the room would be the addition of hangers/hooks in order to put the used towel(s), the addition of toilet brush and extension of bath tab's glass to avoid water spillage. To my opinion, it was not necessary the toilet seat to be fully automatic with 6sec delay for flushing. Sometimes the usual arrangements are just fine. In general I would choose the specific hotel again in case I would travel to Daejeon.

This was actually the most disappointing hotel on our Korea trip, but I think just because they have some kinks to work out. The staff did not speak much English, but this is Daejeon, so no surprise. We were unable to check in early, which is okay, but the hotel was pretty empty, so didn’t understand that. At the time we were there (September 2019) the gym was not yet open and the hotel was actually at a different location than shown on the hotel website or any of the third-party booking sites. Kakao Map did not recognize the English name of the hotel. So, be prepared when you arrive – it’s actually back towards the river when you exit the Yuseong Spa stop (the maps show it being away from the river). The lights and toilet were confusing without English explanations, and there was hardly any room to unpack (a closet with about 4 hangers...). Even from the 11th floor, we could still hear the busy street below. And housekeeping skipped over us on the first day – granted, we didn't leave the room until noon, but we saw the housekeeper, and she acknowledged that we were leaving... Since there is absolutely no place to hang towels, ours had been on the floor and had to be replaced at the reception desk. The rest of the time, we left our wet towels on the leather chairs – but that can’t be a solution for too long… The area is full of love motels - it gets nicer once you get closer to Chungnam Natl University - lots of eateries (though very little English here). We loved the restaurant "Eat My Thai", as well as another Korean fusion place in a newer area to the northwest of the Chungnam main gate, but I do not remember the Korean name. There are so many other hotels in this area, that it seems ridiculous to pay the Ramada price (especially in Daejeon) when the service and facilities are not yet at the level they should be. However, many hotels may not show up on western booking sites... But the area seems to be intransition and building a lot, so maybe soon the western sites will show more hotels here in the Yuseong area.
