“Truely Amazing, Fantastic “Ski-In, Ski-Out” Resort with fantastic facilities for families, young and old!”

Family: 2 adults with 2 teenagers (14 and 16 years old). Separately we also came with 2 other families (that had a 4 and a 7 year old as well). Duration: 3 nights and 4 days Room: 2 x Superior Twin + Breakfast or Lunch + All day pass + Winter Spa Review: We came to Pyeongchang Phoenix Hotel via the free shuttle bus from the train station (please note, this is not provided by the hotel, it's a "Pyeongchang" suburb free shuttle - so it collects people from different locations and drops them off at set places). On arrival to the hotel, we were given a long receipt that contained all of our inclusions that we had purchased with our hotel stay (just be aware that it is complete Korean Hangul). Our inclusions meant that every day that we stayed we could have either breakfast/lunch (buffet), all day lift passes, and everyday entry to the blue canyon water park. One side of the resort has views of the mountain and the other side of the resort has views of the ski fields (be aware that the ski fields have bright lights on for the skiers until past midnight every day). The staff all tried very hard to speak English, and we also tried to speak Korean! Google translate was a definite language barrier saver and so is patience from all involved! Our only real criticism were the very soft pillows and a slightly annoying door that wasn't able to close easily and beeped until it was shut. We were also only given 1 bath towel for 1 twin room. However, when we politely asked for more towels, they were more than happy to deliver us more towels. Access to Pyongchang ski park: The access to the ski park from this hotel is incredible. It is a true "ski in and ski out" resort. The ski fields are truely incredible and groomed twice a day. It's open from 8am to 12 midnight. On-site Ski Gear Valet: We would valet our gear in the hotel and go down from our rooms each day and either put our gear on and then come back and put it away. All of our boots and ski's would be dry and ready to use again. Super Easy! It is all self service though, so don’t except anyone to help you. Food options: There are plenty! We experienced a few in the resort and a few local ones just outside the resort (5minute walk away). - Level 3 Ondo restaurant: has a great buffet for lunch and breakfast. Food is quite diverse and tasty. The kids loved the variety. - Butcher Grill - was very expensive, but had great quality meats to eat. The kids enjoyed it very much. - Chinese Restaurant - was not that great in our view. - CU Convenience marts - there are 2 of them in the resort and gave us all a fantastic option for different foods/drinks etc. the kids loved going there for snacks and lollies and ice cream and we had quite a few sweet potato's! - Bars - plenty of them around! Great variety! Some outside as well, where you can sit, have a cocktail whilst around a fire! - Cafe - the coffee was good. Access to other facilities on site: - Blue Canyon Water Park - easy access to an indoor/ outdoor water park. Initially we thought it wouldn't be suitable for our teenagers and only for our niece and nephew (aged 4 & 7), but with the variety of heated spas and pools, it suited all ages. The ski instructors would go there to soothe their sore muscles at the end of the day in the 41 degree spa! - Lift Pass Ticketing Office - Super easy access. 90,000 won for all day pass. Ours were included in our accomodation package. - Rental - super easy and cheap. You can rent ski/poles/snowboard/boots and clothing (jacket/pants/helmet). - Ski School - super easy to go to and well priced. We did private lessons every day. They break it down to 3 lesson times. 10am-12 midday, 2-4pm and 6.30-8.30pm. - On-site bowling alley- 8000 won per person and goes until midnight every day. Super fun after a day skiing. - On-site arcade games for the kids. About 1000 won per game. - Hotel Sauna - it is a “naked” sauna with a male and female section. It is 18,000 won per person to enter. Overall, we had a fantastic time at this hotel/resort. It gave us great access to the ski fields and is a true "ski in and ski out" site. Access to so many facilities enabled us to enjoy it as a family! We would definitely come back to stay here and highly recommend it to all! Great value for money!

Make sure you get a view of the slopes. It's worth the extra money. Breakfast is good. Would stay again but Our concern was with front desk. The English speaking woman on front desk was not at all obliging or helpful. Not like the amazing koreans we have met. When we arrived we were informed that there was no chance of us being in before 4 or 5. That's just the way it is. Her attitude on all levels left me not wanting to speak to her at all. If l had a question l would wait until she was not on front counter.

“bad room cleaning service”

This hotel does not provide coffee and tea bags, i stayed for 3 nights and only the first night I had coffee and tea bags, They only provide 1 towel for a twin room, when i asked for additional towels, they delivered 2 towels that full of long hair embedded inside the towel.

Checking in was fine. The wait for the elevator can be pretty long because they only have 2. Its proximity to the ski resort is a big plus. The lobby is big and can accommodate people waiting, but a few more seats would be good. The fireplace in the lobby is a big help. They should be more tourist-… more

Checking in was fine. The wait for the elevator can be pretty long because they only have 2. Its proximity to the ski resort is a big plus. The lobby is big and can accommodate people waiting, but a few more seats would be good. The fireplace in the lobby is a big help. They should be more tourist-friendly by anticipating the needs of tourists, like information about their train station shuttle, among others. The room was big, with just the right amenities and a good view of the ski resort. Checkout would have been perfect if only we didn’t miss the shuttle for the train station, leaving us with the option of walking out of the hotel to the street carrying our pieces of luggage in the freezing and windy winter weather, finding a cab to go to the intercity bus terminal.
