An excellent stay in a great location! I came here for 7 days with my family wanting to show them around Seoul and boy it didn’t disappoint. Voco Myeongdong had a massive part in our trip’s success with our wonderful clean room, the management being so kind as to make our extra bed complimentary, the comfort and great view of Seoul tower on the hill, the lovely swimming pool (not easy to find a good pool in hotels in the centre) and location is only around 10 mins walk from the food market never mind the underground transport being right there. Also the Airbus from the airport stopped right outside the hotel. It couldn’t have been easier! We also enjoyed the breakfasts and club lounge on the 18th floor. My husband used the gym lots too. We even enjoyed some New Year midnight fireworks right there outside our window! People have mentioned on reviews about the rooms being small but honestly it isn’t easy in the capital to find big rooms so close to the centre. I was extremely happy with this hotel and will gladly recommend and stay here again next time we are in Seoul! In the freezing cold of the winter it was lovely to come home to a welcoming, warm and beautiful hotel. Thanks to all the kind staff at the front desk, room people, catering staff and the management!

Diamond Elite Member…Stay here. Closest premium property to Myeongdong, excellent accommodations, attentive staff, and a great value. During one of our many trips through the lobby we had the opportunity to meet the property manager, Eric Han. Like everyone else we met he was genuinely concerned about the quality of our stay. We go to Myeongdog once a year and we have decided to make Voco our home away from home.

A very mixed stay experience which could easily have been rated lower had it not been for the very quiet room and exceptionally comfortable bed in the room to which I was eventually assigned. The location is OK - convenient enough but that’s all. The property is situated in a fairly dowdy area in my opinion with some fairly uninspiring / low grade neighbouring eateries and retail as neighbours. In my opinion there are probably better locations in this part of the city. The hotel itself appears to be a conversion from another brand / era of hotel design to the Voco name. Whilst clean enough and reasonably maintained, some of the fixtures looked older and less modern than the decorative touches around them. My room was small and overly stuffy with an unresponsive thermostat, but it was possible to open a window with a little effort and the use of a high level electric switch. I found the lighting stark and harsh, with an irritating motion controlled light in the entrance area which illuminated brightly everytime we used the bathroom at night. The bathroom itself was clean enough but suffered from a blocked sink plug hole and overall it seldom seemed to be properly serviced, with dirty towels being removed but not replaced without requesting these on two of my three nights here. The breakfast buffet offered a wide choice but sometimes items looked better than they tasted, with pastries and breads being particularly disappointing at times. My biggest bugbear was my check in experience which was completely dreadful after a long and gruelling journey. I arrived during the tail end of the Lunar New Year holiday and the lobby was packed with a wait to be served by a receptionist who seemed keen to assign me to any available room despite my specific reservation needs and long-recorded stay preferences. Whilst this was eventually resolved, it took over an hour to do so and with the intervention of a manager who was only made available after three times of me asking. That’s just not good enough for a hotel where the staff repeatedly (but somewhat hollowly) told me I was a valued Diamond Elite customer. Overall, mixed at best and woefully poor in parts. I would not be inclined to return or to recommend the property as a result.
