The two-bedroom apartment we stayed in is part of the Phoenix Resort just 200 metres from the famed Jeju Aquarium. The resort is a huge complex and we were astonished at the crowd with the carparks packed to the rafters. The apartment is nothing to crow about. It very dated but it does its job, with all amenities including air-con in this warm summer period functional. The real gem of the resort is the surroundings of vast greenery, beach and sea view with many kids and families happily wandering and taking pictures around the property.

The compelling reason to stay at the Phoenix is undoubtedly its simply awesome grounds in Seopjikoji : ocean views from cliff-side walking paths, “seas” of flowers, grounds full of treasures just waiting to be explored ….yet a place to easily find peace & serenity. When I booked for my solo stay, the smallest accommodation that was available was a 2 bedroom/ 2 full bathroom “apartment”, complete with a living room, generous balcony and full eat-in kitchen. One of the bedrooms had a western bed, while the other with a traditional Korean bed (floor mattress). The unit was spacious and clean, but very basic and a bit tired. It did however, have walls of windows allowing for loads of natural light. Central AC kept the unit comfortable during the warm days and the patio doors and windows open made sleeping very comfortable at night My unit was in a building that had a handy convenience store and laundry in it. While the resort pool had a comfortable temperature, the depth is very shallow. - too shallow for laps. Still, it was nice to just relax in the evening. The lifeguards clear the pool 30 minutes before closing time, so plan accordingly. One of the hotel restaurants has a buffet dinner (albeit a bit pricey) with many local delicacies, including lots of local seafood. Another, has picnic tables and BBQ grills where guests cook their own food provided by the restaurant. I recommend reserving a table for a sunset dinner there! Parking was included in accommodation costs. If I come back to Jeju, I would most definitely stay at the Phoenix JeJu again.

There were many great factors in this resort having beautiful view, aquarium near by, clean air, relaxing atmosphere, breakfast was outstanding. On and on.... But while the resort is with all the goods and great natural resources, I wasn't sure if I was in resort. Felt like I was in very nice and well assorted apartment. I wasn't sure if I was at Jeju. While the other resort area have a atmosphere of "resort", it was questionable. Although, there is also a point of view how vacation doesn't need to take place is so very special place. This resort is not packed with tourists, which gives you a very "rich" atmosphere. Enjoy walking, enjoy reading book to your child, enjoy just watching the ocean or simply take a nap with nice wind.

“Very quiet place & over priced ”

Had meeting at the hotel; claimed to be very nice natural resources. Also, location where Korean drama took place. Guess could be winter; too cold & too windy. Never enjoy much but the sunset is still pretty! But, the seafood in Jeju is still something that I’d recommend. Seaweed soup; raw … more

Had meeting at the hotel; claimed to be very nice natural resources. Also, location where Korean drama took place. Guess could be winter; too cold & too windy. Never enjoy much but the sunset is still pretty! But, the seafood in Jeju is still something that I’d recommend. Seaweed soup; raw fish. Even the local noodles restaurant is nice & not costly.

“Old and worn out”

It is a resort with 4 stars, but nothing fancy about the place. It is marked by time and years of use. The service is below average (only 5 small towels in the room for 5 people, not daily cleaning). The place only has two expensive restaurants with limited items. To be fair it was very delicious.
