If your standards are really high, this hotel may be not for you. Some of the floors and walls were very old and damaged. Also the elevator did scare me a bit, because it seemed very old. Overall my/our personal stay was still very good! The staff was really friendly and helpful. The rooms and toilets/showers were clean. There was water in our room, extra blankets, a hairdryer, shampoo and shower gel. The bed was okay, but a bit too hard when it comes to comfort, but I can‘t complain for this price. Check-in and Check-out was no problem. We got the Wifi-password and one room key. Whenever you want to leave the hotel and come back in after 6pm, you can enter de hotel with the code you get at the reception desk. It was also possible to store our luggage next to the reception on our check-in and check-out day.

“More basic than chic due to the poor facilities.”

Rooms are clean. Superior rooms have a French balcony with a great view. Staff is helpful. If you bring your own breakfast you can use the facilities on the 1st floor. Rooms are clean. Superior rooms have a French balcony with a great view. Staff is helpful. If you bring your own breakfast you can use the facilities on the 1st floor. Minor point is that the reception is open from 10 am to 6 pm. During the night there was a fire alarm that lasted for a long time. There seemed to be a fire on the 4th floor. After a long time (a person from another hotel was asked to come to our place) the device was reset. No fire at all!!!

Looking for a reasonably priced hotel room in Barcelona, we stumbled across the Chic & Basic Lemon hotel. The "no frills" concept sounded nice. After all, when touring a city with so much to see, all you need is a good night's sleep in a decent room. Basically the place got the concept right. The location is great. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are of decent size and have everything that you need. You've got free coffee, water and cookies in the public areas, which include a nice little patio. The lemon theme with yellow colours is chic. And scattered throughout the hotel and on all amenities, you find those humorous lines that make you smile. However, the experience could be better. First, the street facing rooms are VERY noisy, since the windows hardly offer any noise insulation. On our first night, we could hardly sleep. So we needed to get ourselves earplugs. The pillows are unusually hard, but softer ones are available upon request. And the hotel shows signs of wear, not really bad, but noticeable. The reception is only manned from 10:00 - 18:00, which is ok if you don't have a problem. But on our 3rd night, the WLAN stopped working soon after the reception staff left. So it stayed that way until they came back in the morning. With the room rates charged, I expected a "no frills" experience on a high level. We got the "no frills", but with the feeling of a cheap hotel, which makes it a poor value. In hindsight we should have paid a little more and booked a full service hotel.
