My son went to Barcelona last year and was so happy with his holiday that he recommended it to my husband and myself, so we decided to book a short break Sunday to Thursday. my son wanted to return and so did his friend so we scouted around and found the Lonely Chimney apartments. Cannot fault these apartments, a bit of an inconvenience having to go and collect the key and pay for cleaning a and deposit, but to save us all having to walk to the boutique hotel in Barcelona my husband and myself sat at a roadside café with the suitcases and had a couple of beers whilst my son and friend went to sort this out. to say it was busy was an understatement as when we arrived it was Catalonia's version of Valentines day and the streets were packed with people and stalls selling Roses and Books (read up on why this is). Keys got, we went on the underground and paid for a set of 9 tickets (a bit like the passes you can get in London) these lasted us for the 5 days we were there. got to the apartments took a bit of finding as the apartments block is huge and has different entrances, found our entrance and took the lift to the 4th floor there's a code for the lift which is given at the point of picking up the keys. The apartment was big 2 bedrooms one with double and other with bunk beds but the settee folded out into a double bed which my son and friend used and used the bunk bed room as a walk in wardrobe. the kitchen is well equipped with expresso coffee maker and other utensils the living room which had now become a bedroom was satisfactory with TV and dining table our bedroom had a balcony which looked out onto the playground below and seemed to be a meeting point for the tenants of the block with their dogs in an evening which we found quite amusing watching all the different breeds of dogs chasing each other. the playground was always full so if you don't like children or their noise then don't think this apartment is for you (we didn't mind this) The apartment is clean when you arrive and you pay for the cleaning after. Make sure you wash up before you leave dishwasher included. There is a balcony on the back of the apartment which gets evening son and is a great place to sit after a full day around Barcelona. I've read some other reviews on this place and can honestly say we have not encountered any problems, yet. Not had refund from deposit yet though don't know how long that takes. the location of the Lonely chimney is great if you don't want the hassle of the city. We found a tube station just a few metres away which we used to get to the different places whilst we were there. there are cafes, restaurants and shops close by and the sea is a 20 minute walk away. All in all I would recommend this place as my husband and myself have never been to Spain before and this as a first impression was a good one.

“Average apartment in a perfect location”

The location is perfect, in calm, green district of Barcelona. One can walk to the sand beaches (Nova Icaria Beach) and it takes only 15 minutes. There are metro and tram stations close by. The location is perfect, in calm, green district of Barcelona. One can walk to the sand beaches (Nova Icaria Beach) and it takes only 15 minutes. There are metro and tram stations close by. Plenty of good restaurants and bars in the neighborhood. The apartment is large enough to accommodate 4 persons; however, it is not convenient for 4 adults, since the second bedroom has a bunk bed, which is suitable for children. Moreover, the bathroom has no ventilation and smells a bit (more or less the whole apartment).
