This was a good choice for our stay, most particularly the close proximity to the circuit where we were attending an event. The hotel has character, both outside and in, its beautiful facade of blue with yellow shutters casting it prime player on the high street. Inside, the lowly lit, all day cafe-restaurant is ambient and welcoming. Other communal spaces have also been charmingly styled, with an art deco nod. Rooms are quite different - our sons’ triple room was a decent size but quite basic, with no kettle, whereas our deluxe room, whilst also rather stark, had upscale furnishings and fittings, including an enormous marble bath. And the much desired kettle! The town centre location means many rooms face the street. Ours enjoyed 2 lovely balconied doors, albeit with a view of an underground car park. Not pretty, and a little noisy, but the upside is you have myriad restaurants on your doorstep. The hotel doesn’t have its own parking but offers a discounted ticket for the adjacent underground car park, priced at €20 per 24 hours. The restaurant operates throughout the day, offering breakfast from 7 till 12, with coffee and pastries served in between lunch and dinner. We ate in-house several times and food was a mixed bag, but good overall, and really good on occasion. Staff were pleasant, but we did have a very long wait for food on one particular evening. Overall - a good stay and we would return.

“A hotel with character”

This is hotel with character, it has a nice historic feel to it. Nevertheless, the rooms are modern and clean as well with good beds. The food is especially nice here, but the breakfast, lunches but especially dinner.

Why not? This town-centre hotel doesn't have its own car-park. There's a large underground public car-park nearby where we parked for 5 days. Why not? This town-centre hotel doesn't have its own car-park. There's a large underground public car-park nearby where we parked for 5 days. Even with a small hotel discount it cost us an exhorbitant 137 euros!!! This is out of all proportion to the 30 euros we paid to hire a car for the same length of time. We were told towards the end of our stay that it would have cost less to buy a week's parking voucher - but the info came too late for us. The Fonda Europa is a pleasant enough hotel, though the architect-designed rooms are too dimly lit to be able to read, and the trendy bathroom basin is so wide & shallow that you have to run a lot of water just to be able to dip your finger-tips, let alone have a wash. The reception staff were friendly & helpful though some of them spoke little English. Our deal included breakfast served by very pleasant staff in a small upstairs breakfast-room. There was quite a good choice including some Catalan dishes, but it was exactly the same each day. We had a couple of lunches in the hotel's very popular restaurant. Sadly the service for the meal with our extended family was pathetically slow - maybe because our waiter was new that day. Service for our Sunday lunch there was much better & the food each time was delicious & not unreasonably priced.
