This is a good hotel though as others say it’s not a 5 star Pros: Comfy bed, really strong shower, friendly staff, lots of choice at breakfast, outdoor pool (rare in this area), small gym, room refreshed and water provided daily, nice bar area. Just over 10 min walk and to the centre (just walk through the park and straight up the hill) Cons: The pool was pretty cold (this was Aug so wouldn’t be great in cooler months), you had to get towels from hotel reception rather than be available at the pool which was a faff as you had to queue with people checking in. No drinks or food bar at the pool area, this would help push it to 5 star. The aircon wasn’t cold, I asked at reception on the first day but they didn’t fix it, so much we had to open the window to try to let a breeze in. Parts of the room were a bit worn and could have done with an update. Overall we loved Santiago and as the hotel was a close enough walk and had sun loungers and a pool we would return.

To be clear this hotel is not luxury 5 star quality. Having said that you're not paying 5 star prices. If expectations are for a 4 star corporate hotel then I think it does a pretty good job at meeting them. To be clear this hotel is not luxury 5 star quality. Having said that you're not paying 5 star prices. If expectations are for a 4 star corporate hotel then I think it does a pretty good job at meeting them. The hotel is in a good location for visting Santiago de Compostela - just a 10 minute walk to the cathedral. Parking is also easy. The rooms are a good size but could do with modernising. The outdoor swimming area was pleasant especially when the bar was open and the sun was shining. Having said that the pool was very cold, so it was only just about acceptable when the outside temperature was nearly 30. The inside pool wasn't very nice and the whole sauna and spa area badly needs a refresh. Having to get towels from reception was also inconvenient. The breakfast was a real high point with really good food that included local produce. The staff were also helpful and friendly. So overall as long as you're aware this is not a luxury 5 star hotel it is pretty good for visiting the town.

Quick check-in on arrival with friendly and informative reception staff. The weather was very hot during our visit so very relieved that our room had easily adjustable, efficient and quiet AC. However, the in-room fridge is more of a chiller, than a fridge - don’t expect very cold water from it. The complementary water provided by the hotel tastes odd and is slightly carbonated, standard still water would be better. We liked the room and bathroom - shower above bath appears to be standard. We had originally asked for a room with a walk in shower and given a twin-bedded, ‘special needs’ room. We found the bath very slippery though, a non-slip bath mat wasn’t provided - standard safety requirement I would have thought. Bathrobes and slippers can be ordered from reception - I was told it’s part of their green policy to not provide them automatically in guest bedrooms. Liked that BBC News channel was available on the TV. And a good night’s sleep was had on a lovely, comfortable bed. The unmanned pool complex could be improved by more/better pool furniture. There aren’t enough sun beds - I counted 10 beds shared between the inside and outside pools, and no tables to put drinks or bags. Lots of options for breakfast. Athough the restaurant doesn’t have an egg station, egg orders are taken and provided via the kitchen. It’s around a 20 minute walk from the hotel into the old town, some parts quite steep. Overall we had a great two night stay at this hotel and would stay again when visiting this lovely city. Happy to recommend.

As an ardent fan of the NH brand, I was quite disappointed by this property which, together with the surrounding university buildings, is rather "soviet" in style. Located some 15 minutes walk from the delightful city centre, there are gradients both up and down in both directions so a degree of mobility is requited in planning on walking everywhere. Our suite was very dark and unwelcoming. The breakfast was OK . The outdoor pool was still too cold, for me anyway and the indoor pool lacked character and was quite unwelcoming. The hotel seems to cater for tourist groups and conferences and so, with hindsight, we have to accept that we chose badly
