Hotel had just reopened after a major refurbishment. Location is fantastic, very central. We upgraded to the Level, which allows access to a top floor bar and dining area. The views of Granada and the mountains are superb. Open bar / snacks for Level clients in the afternoons. Breakfast is also here. The staff in this area are superb, as are the staff at check-in / front desk, in particular the porter. Special mention to Amor, the lady that does check-in for the Level, she was so helpful and welcoming, recommended a great place for tapas. Some of the fittings in the bathroom are a bit quirky - you have to press a button to make the shower work. Clean, great location, and great value - would recommend 100%

Without exception, we found all the hotel staff to be polite, efficient and very helpful. We used room service for our first evening meal and it the food was excellent, with no additional service charge - very unusual! When we arrived, we paid to be upgraded to the Level. I'm glad we because the views from the Level lounge are truly breathtaking, enhanced by skilful use of mirrors, so it's fun to work out what's "real" and what's a reflection. I wasn't well during our trip, so it was nice to be able to relax in this wonderful space when I didn't feel up to exploring the city. Breakfast, snacks and drinks are supplied, but those who require a gluten free diet are doomed to disappointment, as so often in Spain. Most of what was on offer was bread- or pastry-based. I was able to ask for gluten free bread and little lemon cupcakes, which were defrosted for me, but it would have been good to have gluten free cereal (easy for them to provide), or even to have one or two of the tapas toppings spread on to my gluten free bread (but maybe the toppings weren't gluten free either). Still, there was smoked salmon, meat and cheese so I certainly didn't starve during my 4 day stay! Just as well I'm not vegan and gluten free! The shower in our room was a bit unreliable temperature-wise and there was noise at night from a neighbouring street but not enough to really bother us. otherwise, our room was comfortable and the location was good.

I wanted to give 5, but could not, for the following reason. I chose the Level service, based on my previous positive experience in Melia White House in London. I was however a little bit disappointed, since the buffet offering in the afternoon was quite poor, with little choice, compared to London (mainly the leftovers from the breakfast) and in London they had delicious Spanish olives, while here in Granada just supermarket ones. Also the atmosphere was not so relaxing in the Level area, with the music volume a little bit too high (in London there was a lovely silence). I suggest the hotel Managing Director gets in touch with the one in London, to improve the experience. Nevertheless the Level area is really nice, with a breathtaking view on the city and Alhambra. Nice room and clean. Helpful and smiling staff. Good breakfast. Just a little effort to be perfect!

My husband and I spent two nights in the newly reopened Melia Granada, staying in a superior room in The Level. It is very obvious, and understandable, that the owners were anxious to open the doors and get business started. However, there is a distinctly unfinished and soulless air about the place. This will hopefully change over time. Even on the day we were leaving paintings were being hung in the foyer which will help to remove the very ‘beige’ look that permeates the whole place. Pros: Fantastic city centre location Friendly, professional staff The top-floor bar in The Level is the jewel in the crown of the hotel with wraparound views of the entire city Top class breakfast! Free coffees, soft drinks and cakes available from 11am to 5pm every day in The Level bar Free alcoholic drinks and nibbles every evening from 5pm until 7 VERY comfortable bed, high quality linens Cons: Bedroom windows not very well sound proofed. Street noise can be an issue The bathroom lay out is a fiasco, dreadful planning. There is absolutely NO storage for toiletries and cosmetics. Bizarre design features including placing the toilet roll holder around the corner from the toilet , very strange and impractical No shower cap! No free water! Small bottle in the mini-bar was €3.50!!Sometimes it is a small, mean gesture like this that leaves a sour taste Would I stay in the Melia Granada again? Yes I would. Would I pay the extra to stay in The Level? Yes I would provided I could get a quiet, interior facing room Would I upgrade to a superior room? No, it is not worth the extra spend
