Overall, the hotel was excellent - top location in the center of town walking distance everywhere, friendly and professional front desk staff, and great modern rooms. However what put the hotel over the top for me for a true 5 star review was the reaction and resolution of the hotel manager to an issue I had. I had a few clothing items laundered by the hotel, and unfortunately one of the items came back damaged, rendering it unwearable. I assumed this wasn't the hotel's fault, as they probably have an outside company do the laundry services for their guests. When I contacted the hotel manager via email, I told him about the the issue, and I also explained to him that it was an expensive piece of clothing. Without asking too many questions, he offered to refund me the cost of the shirt. I really wish more hotels around the world had that level of customer service. Well done!

We had good directions to the hotel from the reception team (as it’s in a largely pedestrianised area) and were aware that we needed to access the underground car park via a car lift. We were met outside by a porter who guided us in to the lift and then to our parking space. So don’t be put off by this. The same for our departure too. We had a room facing the square on two levels, the lower level of which we didn’t really use, as it was up and down a flight of steps to a lounge area. Super large comfy bed and good bathroom with large walk in shower. Tiny bedside tables and lack of drawers in room was a bit of style over substance but overall a good room. We also ate dinner in the hotel restaurant on one night. It was a super meal but a little soulless, however the server was fabulous and very friendly. There is also a super roof top bar at the hotel overlooking the square but sadly, even in June, it was only open at the weekends. We would return to this hotel, which is also well located for the main tapas streets and shopping centre.

We had a wonderful stay at Áurea Palacio de Correos and would happily return. The hotel itself is absolutely stunning, housed in a beautiful historic building that has been sympathetically restored while still feeling modern, stylish and luxurious. Our room was spotlessly clean, very comfortable and had an exceptionally comfortable bed with excellent bedding. The shower was powerful, and the air conditioning deserves a special mention – whisper quiet yet incredibly effective, which made sleeping a pleasure during the hot weather. I’d read reviews mentioning noise and poor blackout curtains, but that certainly wasn’t our experience. Our room was peaceful throughout our stay and the blackout curtains worked perfectly. The public areas are elegant and immaculately maintained, and the spa is a real highlight. As sessions have to be booked in advance, you have the facilities entirely to yourself, making it a wonderfully relaxing experience. Breakfast was excellent, with an impressive selection of high-quality buffet items alongside freshly cooked dishes to order. There’s even champagne available if you want to start your day in style. The staff were consistently friendly, welcoming and helpful. My only criticism is that there simply don’t seem to be enough of them. Service was pleasant rather than polished, and it’s this that stops the hotel feeling like a true five-star experience. There were a couple of small disappointments too: the bar closed at 11pm, which felt quite early for a luxury hotel, and I was surprised to be told that they couldn’t make an iced coffee one afternoon. Those are relatively minor points, though. Overall, this is a beautiful hotel in a fantastic location right in the heart of Logroño. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, would definitely choose to stay here again, and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone visiting the city. That version should read as credible and balanced, which often carries more weight with other travellers than an entirely glowing review.
