We stayed two nights at this hotel while doing some wine tasting in Rioja. I thought the hotel had a lot of character, the room was huge with exposed beams on the ceiling. Not a cookie cutter box at all. The bathroom had an amazing rain shower once I figured out the controls. The location is excellent, we took the Alsa bus from Madrid and it is less than 10 minutes walk. We found lots of restaurants in close proximity. We walked to Bodegas Franco Españolas across the river too, 10 minutes away, and did a nice tasting with no appointment. Breakfast was nice, had the usual fare, plus they offered to cook a fresh egg or omlet too. Good service from the staff and I felt I got a good deal for the price point too!

Hotel chosen as it offered single room in the area at a reasonable price. We arrived 20 mins prior to official check in and was told we had to wait 20 mins. The next person was to the same, inflexibility crossed my mind. At the official time a line of people were waiting a line which seemed to be there most of the time! Check in was a study of inefficiency. The rooms we had were fine, clean with enough space but not large. No free supplies of anything much apart from liquid soap. Breakfast was included which made the price attractive but it was not the best and items ran out with the efficiency of staff matching reception staff. I was able to find on road parking though sometimes it was some distance away. I had calculated that it was walkable into the city. In a straight line on the map it looked a good guess. However the road layout stops you walking in a straight line: the frequent left then right turns increased the distance so much that my assumption of walkability was in question. We found the Thai restaurant across the road not pretentious but good value. In summary this is not a bad hotel and for the price represents value but it could be improved.

“Dog friendly hotel”

The hotel was selected for a night stop on a long journey. It was satisfactory but lacked all sorts of refinements. The bathroom was very out of date and too dangerous for my wife to try the shower. The room had no facilities like a kettle and tea/coffee or water. The big problem was that they charge 20 euro for the dog but you have a sign a waiver to say the dog cannot be left alone in the room and cannot go into the restaurant - so how do you get breakfast? The parking was good but it was a 15 min walk from the hotel. Thankfully there is a small range of bars nearby to get a snack.

I've been there for a complete week. Sadly, my experience was not so good, part for the hotel itels, part for my healthy limitations. At the beggining, no parking at the hotel, their parking is placed over the park, 100 meters and paid 7.7€/day. Trying to find a free spot at the street is more difficult than win the lottery. Tha safe case didn't work (it was fixed the day after) and no mini fridge, so I had to store my medicines at the lobby. A solution but not the best for me. On the other hand, every single person ar the lobby was extremely helpful and kind. The room, super clean. Not comfortable to store the clothes, very small place (for a whole week) I supposed that for a three stars hotel, the most used for business trips, I'll find an iron... My mistake... In a sum, for one or two nights, only to put the head in a bed, it' ok.
