Yes, the rooms are small and soundproof pretty much non existent BUT, the historic building is beautiful and authentic. Furthermore, the hotel is spotlessly clean, the breakfast was very good (gluten free available/ oat milk/ fresh coffee/ scrambled eggs/ fruit…) but above all the staff we came across were professional, nice and extremely helpful. Although there is no tea and coffee facilities in the rooms, there is a kettle and microwave by reception that anyone can use. Our flight was in the evening so we checked out at 12 and were able to use the lounge on the first floor and leave our luggage in the luggage room until departure. The location is 10/10. Shops and restaurants on your door step and the train station is 500m straight down the road. The 203 bus which takes you to the airport is also taken from the train station. I would definitely recommend and would stay there again.

“Perfect Location by Atocha – Clean, Quiet, and Great Value”

We had a very pleasant stay at Hotel Mediodia. The location is excellent — right next to Atocha Station and within easy reach of many major tourist attractions. The room was very clean and surprisingly quiet, which made it easy to rest after a long day of sightseeing. The staff were consistently friendly and helpful, and the service overall was excellent. One feature we really appreciated was the individual air conditioning system. You can adjust the temperature using a thermostat, which keeps the room comfortable even if it becomes too warm due to the heater. Transportation is very convenient. The Airport Express Bus (Line 203) stops close to the hotel and runs from 6:00 to 23:30. For airport transfers, I recommend taking Bolt or Uber — it’s faster and more efficient than using commuter trains, especially since it avoids the need to transfer between Atocha and Chamartín stations. The cost is usually around €20–€26. Overall, this hotel offers great value for money, combining a prime location, comfort, and excellent service.

“Ok for one night stay”

Rooms are smaller than those shown in the pictures with the minimum ammenities. Good location and easy access to metro. There is a great restaurant in the street below where you can get amazing breakfast, so no need to buy that option. There is no ramp to roll up/down your luggage.

With its huge red neon marquee just outside Atocha rail / metro station, it’s hard to miss this old hotel that offers basic but convenient and reliable accommodation, in a busy neighborhood surrounded by eating and shopping options. Taxis line up in front to whisk you wherever you need to go (mind the horrendous Madrid traffic). The front staff are efficient; the clerk guy that checked me in, late in the evening, told me his employment there dated back to 2017, the last time I stayed at this hotel. Amazingly, he could type up my reservation from eight years ago to cite the month / day and the room I stayed in. The hotel is old, but the halls and rooms seem to have been updated since my last visit (the desk clerk claimed that wasn’t true but … I still have my old photos to prove it). The room I was given was smaller but offered me the requested amazing view of bustling Plaza del Emerador. The tall windows open out to a tiny (inaccessible) balcony featuring painted metal shutters. I appreciated the faint sound of the traffic, from six floors up. WIFI was rock solid. Two downsides. First, the walls aren’t well sound-proofed. This negatively affects your stay in two different ways: You hear your neighbor and your neighbor hears you. In the latter situation during my one-night stay, someone next door hammered on the adjoining wall around midnight because he apparently thought my laptop speakers were too loud. I felt bad but … how was I to know? Secondly, an outdated tradition of older European hotels still survives at the Hotel Mediodia: The dysfunctional pushing together two tiny twin beds to make a double – to me two single beds is simply one usable single bed. Sleep comes hard when you find yourself rolling the wrong way, easily sliding the other bed away with you sliding onto the floor. Sadly, that annoying room feature wasn’t part of the room makeovers.
