This should be a TripAdvisor Award winner but I guess a lack of TA reviews means it gets left out. Put this on your shortlist for Stockholm hotels, actually, just book it. In a converted gaol, this is an interesting hotel even before you consider the quality, comfort, and service. Rooms aren't huge, but they are comfortable, smart use of space, and the bathrooms surprisingly spacious. If you want a cosy place to read a book or write a letter, there are heaps of nooks where they've set up sofas, arm chairs, tables etc. The great - Service. Staff are friendly and attentive. It feels like they'll do everything to ensure your stay is perfect (many hotels seem to have forgotten this). - Breakfast (and on site restaurant). The buffet breakfast is amazing. Loads of fresh foods and home made items. Everything is excellent quality. You've got some hot items (bacon, scrambled and boiled eggs, sausages, pancakes), a vast selection breads, Swedish and general continental fare... One of the best hotel breakfasts I've had (I'm still dreaming about the homemade Nutella). Make sure to have dinner or lunch here too. - The building. You get access to the on site museum which is fascinating. - The location. It's on an island which is nice to walk around. If you have kids there's plenty for them to do. It's incredibly quiet, and only a 25min walk along the waterfront into old town. Plenty of shops and cafes about 7min walk away, along with the subway station. The good - Beds. The linen is nice, plenty of pillows, comfortable bed. Note that it's up against the wall to make the most of the space in the room. My only issue was that the topper slid around a bit. - Bathroom. Clean, spacious. Good water pressure too. - Parking. The average - Number of electrical sockets in the room, they need another close to the bedhead. - Room temperature. It was fine with a window open but need an option to turn off the heated towel rail. The bad NOTHING There's also hostel accommodation which is nice to know if you're on a budget, and means there's a guest kitchen. We've stayed in converted gaols elsewhere and none come close to the quality of this place. This is a real treat and will make your stay in Stockholm far more interesting.

I am glad we stayed at this former prison. The architecture and stylish is cool. The staff were friendly. I recommend spending half an hour in the on site museum. I am glad we stayed at this former prison. The architecture and stylish is cool. The staff were friendly. I recommend spending half an hour in the on site museum. You won’t stay here for the comfort of the rooms though. They are converted cells, so expect them to be small. They can be a little stuffy as the single window is small. It is a fun place to visit and the island lovely to walk around.

Stayed here for 2 nights in a bunkbed room with my husband. Really cool hotel where your room is a cell. The room was small, but the use of the small space is used well. Stayed here for 2 nights in a bunkbed room with my husband. Really cool hotel where your room is a cell. The room was small, but the use of the small space is used well. The details are also really cool, like the mirror that looks like a guillotine. We had a Cesar salad from tbe bar menu, which was delicious, but unfortunately never made it to breakfast, since the beds were just too comfy. The location is great, just a 15 ish minute walk to the closest Underground/ Tbana stop "Hornstull". Definitely recommend staying at least once! Ps. Pretty sure the place is haunted, for people who are into that type of thing..

“Nice hotel”

We enjoyed not being in the main tourist locations, swapping that for outside space to picnic on Långholm island. The nearby metro station and bus stops are on useful routes, so you can get around easily enough. The hotel itself, is well appointed, The rooms are small, and we did need the windows… more

We enjoyed not being in the main tourist locations, swapping that for outside space to picnic on Långholm island. The nearby metro station and bus stops are on useful routes, so you can get around easily enough. The hotel itself, is well appointed, The rooms are small, and we did need the windows open as the rooms were a bit warm for our liking, but if all you need is a bed for the night, it's great. Plus having a guest kitchen means you can bring your food in for lunch or dinner. And there are plenty of little cosy nooks and crannies to sit and chat with travelling companions, given the bedrooms are so compact.
