Villa Kâllhagen hotel. A small to medium sized hotel all on one floor near the shore of the river leading into Stockholm. It was a pleasant 25 minute walk from here along a quiet river path leading to the busier frontage with moored boats and riverside restaurants that eventually led to the capital centre. A fairly quiet during the week with just a few joggers and dog walkers but the weekend was busier. (Which showed at the breakfast restaurant in the mornings.) The hotel was clean, well kept and most of the staff were friendly and polite. It looked like it had been refurbished within the last year, and unfortunately, as we were there out of the busier summer season, building work was ongoing around the conservatory part of the restaurant area. This was not intrusive as it was hidden from view at breakfast with just the occasional power tool noise and a few builders vans visible from our room window. (It would’ve been nice to pull the curtains back to see the river view, but as we were on the ground floor, anyone walking on the river path and builders too could see into our room.) The food more than made up for any distraction as it was fresh and hand made to order and also a good selection of buffet food on offer, but could get a little crowded when at the buffet counter. It was also quite a walk to the coffee and tea machines from the dining area. Fellow customers were fairly quiet, respectful and mostly business people staying for conventions. A few families were there at the weekend. Our room looked good and was clean, but lacked a safe and more importantly, a kettle with tea and coffee to make our own in the room. (It did have a well stocked mini-bar though!) We asked at reception for a kettle but they misunderstood and brought us a tray of tea, coffee and milk instead. We found out later that this was not charged for. Along with a bottle of beer and a bag of crisps from the mini-bar they also didn’t charge for, as a gift for our wedding anniversary. This was a nice touch and we were pleasantly pleased with their thoughtfulness. All in all, a very pleasant and relaxing stay at Villa Kâllhagen hotel.

Brunch here was cozy but not a huge amount of options. The options although were well cooked and tasted very good. Brunch here was cozy but not a huge amount of options. The options although were well cooked and tasted very good. We were sat in somewhat of a conference room, maybe because they are renovating but we were able to conversate which was nice. A big plus due to the fact that you have a two hour reservation and not 1,5 hours like most brunches in Stockholm.
