“Great location in town”

The hotel was a great location in walking distance to all downtown shops and restaurants. Our room was very comfortable with a great porch and view of the beautiful mountains.

Perfect location, spotlessly clean, and friendly staff - couldn’t have asked for more. We stayed in the Eiger Apartment with picture perfect views from the balcony. Breakfast was lovely, apartment was serviced everyday and the staff were all so friendly. Location is fantastic - central to everything with ski bus stop directly outside. We have been coming to Grindelwald and Wengen for many years but this is our first time staying in this hotel - we will definitely be returning!

“Made a mistake!”

Our Swiss host recommended the Hotel Gletschergarden for 2 rooms. Somehow, I made the mistake of booking the Grindelwaldenhof. Our Swiss host recommended the Hotel Gletschergarden for 2 rooms. Somehow, I made the mistake of booking the Grindelwaldenhof. Almost the same amount of money, $300 US dollars a night when taxes and parking were added, I agree with a TA reviewer from last year…this hotel is a $100 night property, at best. Pros: Located right in the middle of the Main Street, this hotel has a great location. Donnie, at the front desk, seemed to be a “one man band”. He took me outside to show us where to park, take us to our rooms and was one of the servers at breakfast. We give him an A+ Our rooms were probably the best in the hotel. They each had a balcony that faced the soaring mountains in front of us. Unfortunately, weather conditions prevented us from seeing much more than a dense fog. Not the fault of the hotel. We had much better luck seeing the Matterhorn in Zermatt. Cons: Front entrance/lobby decor was horrible. No Swiss charm anywhere in sight. The desk looked knockdown handmade and thrown together. The walls were painted an ugly lime green. Lighting and furniture were 2nd rate and uninviting. The whole hotel was in need of an upgrade. Once inside the rooms, the balconies saved the day. Furniture was old world Swiss and the mattress and duvet were fine. Pillows, however, were simply awful! Could not use either one. So stiff, we tossed them off, bunched up the duvet and tried to sleep. As a result, we didn’t get much rest. Tub in bathroom was not made to easily negotiate. Very high to safely get into the tub to shower. Most irritating were the shower valves. Shower started out very hot. Once you regulate it to the proper temperature, soap up, shampoo your hair, the water turns ice cold. Between this and the pillows, we were ready to leave. Parking was a another challenge in the back of the hotel. Up a steep ramp, there were only 4 spots. Difficult to back up to the point where our host accidentally hit the curved wall trying to back up from oncoming traffic going down the opposite way to park properly. We understand there is parking under ground, but the previous comments were the spots were tight and get blocked. We did drive to the end of the street to have dinner at the hotel I thought I’d booked, The Gletschergarden. Dinner was lovely and so was this hotel. We ate dinner with our hosts, sad that we’d made the hotel mistake. I always ask myself if I would stay here again… despite some of the pros, the answer is a no. We expected a lot more for the price of this hotel.
