We stayed for 4 nights and had an amazing time. Check in was all smooth, we arrived early and were planning to leave bags and go explore a bit but we managed to get our room 2 hours before usual check-in time. The hotel is an old traditional building but thats its charm. If you want modern and all shiny then maybe try and find somewhere else. The room was amazing, we got the spacious en-suite one with a balcony. I would recommend to properly check what you are booking as some rooms have shared bathrooms so you avoid disappointment on arrival. Switzerland is an expensive country so if you want a budget room its not fair to then complain about room being small and bathroom being shared. Read small print. Also don’t think its a very suitable place for families with kids. Its an old wooden building and the floors are squeaky, can be bit loud at times. Saying that we were only woken up once overnight by someone walking upstairs. Most nights it was peaceful and quiet. The restaurant was amazing and I cannot praise the chef enough. I need a strict gluten free diet and the hotel made sure I had appropriate breakfast provided every day. The chef was happy to tweak some dinners so I could eat it as well, however plenty of yummy gluten free options available on a standard menu. Absolutely loved rostis and couldn’t get enough of it. Its a very convenient location, about 2-3 min walk from the Wilderswil train station. There are some walks locally as well. We did a long lovely walk locally passing by an old church and along the river. Overall we would def be happy to stay there again.

“Nice Swiss Cabin Experience ”

My friend and I stayed here for 3 nights and we occupied the private bathroom unit. We love the vintage feel and the traditional Swiss home experience. The staffs are all friendly especially Anze who is very polite and friendly. He helped us to carry the luggage to our unit. The hotel is very near to the train/ bus station (2-4 minutes) and perfect to be the base for your excursion in Lauterbrunnen, Wengen, Murren or Grindelwald. Highly recommended only if you want to experience the traditional Swiss home. The unit is linked to Alpen Rose hotel (same owner) which looks abit modern. The surrounding location is very beautiful and peaceful. We definitely will come back one day!

I was booked at a different hotel in Wilderswil which was a bomb, so I walked into Edelweiss Lodge and the was thankfully a beautiful room for the night. The room was even ready while checking in. Accommodations were perfect! Check in with Sophia was outstanding. My phone died and she even let me charge my phone while I was checking in. She was courteous and very sweet and helped me with local information. Dinner in the restaurant- wow!! Delicious!! So was breakfast the next morning. Fruit, cereal, yogurt and yummy homemade cake!! Start to finish, this hotel was a perfect ten!! Will definitely stay here again. I’m grateful that the other hotel fell through otherwise I never would have found this absolute gem!!

“Good, Charming Hotel - Fantastic Staff and Management”

I made this reservation knowing it was going to be the last days of a 6 day train journey through Switzerland. I selected this hotel because it was away from the city of Interlaken - and seemed to be in a residential area. The website was easy to navigate, and the prices were reasonable. Getting to the hotel was straightforward, take the # 105 bus from the Interlaken West train station - get off the bus at Wilderswil train station and walk about 100 meters. The hotel is actually two buildings connected by a central dining room. The hotel is dated - but it added to the charm the stairs creaked, the doors did not fit tightly in the doorway. The bed was comfortable, pillows soft and the bathroom/shower area had been updated. There were at least 3 restaurants within a 5-minute walk of the hotel. We were supposed to stay 2 or 3 days when disaster hit. On our first morning, my wife thought she had misplaced her purse with passport and credit cards. She believed she left it on one of three trains or a bus that we utilized the previous day. The management and staff jumped to our assistance, contacting Lost and Found at Swiss Rail, and making recommendations. Meanwhile, we are trying to get the authorities on the phone to inquire about getting a replacement passport, while at the same time trying to determine if we needed to cancel credit cards. Fortunately, after about 90 minutes, the purse was found - under a suitcase on a chair in our room. I cannot thank the staff enough for their assistance, advice and understanding. In the midst of all this we learned that our cable car activities for the day had been cancelled due to continuing high winds. That was the final straw - the hotel understood, cancelled the remaining day or two of our reservation and we departed. What makes this hotel so special to me is the staff and management - they really went out of their way, making calls for us, offering us coffee etc. They are just too nice. I hope to return to the area within the next 12 months to take the cable cars up to the nearby mountains and I plan to stay at this hotel and visit the other restaurants in the area.
