Excellent value. The room was very nice. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. I found it very quiet. The bathroom had a tub and a good shower. Wifi was excellent. The TV had English channels including CNN, MSNBC and BBC. The breakfast was very good, scrambled eggs and bacon, meats, cheese, cereal, yoghurt, baked goods, everything you could want. We had dinner one night in the hotel and enjoyed it but our favourite restaurant was Luna Picante. Parking was easy. There is a small elevator so no need to lug heavy bags up stairs. The hotel is a short walk to the train station and there is a grocery store right beside the station. I would recommend this hotel and happily stay again.

We had a really amazing stay. First of all the view from our room and convenient location were amazing everything else felt like a bonus. The staff we interacted with were very kind and accommodating. The gentleman that checked us in was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. As we had never been to the area, we asked him for recommendations and he provided us with several as well as maps and brochures. We also asked for a fan knowing there was no AC and he promptly brought us one. No A/c was fine for us because it was comfortable with the windows open at night, and the area is VERY quiet compared to interlaken. The room was simple and a little dated, however I was not expecting luxury as I did not book a luxury hotel. Breakfast was fine and simple, breads, eggs, meats cheeses, cereals. Again not luxurious or fancy but that’s not what I was expecting as this is not a luxury hotel. For us it was a place to sleep comfortably and keep things while we explored. The hotel is expensive, however for the comparable area it’s really affordable, especially if you’re booking only about 1-2 months in advance which is what I did. Switzerland is an expensive place you have to recognize that and accept it before you go. Speaking of the area, it’s outside of interlaken, however as a guest you get a guest pass for transport for free in the valley making getting to town affordable and easy. There is also a bus and train station and grocery a 3-5 min walk from the hotel. Interlaken is a 5 min train ride, Grindelwald terminal was about 25-30. Honestly, can’t ask for much better. This hotel is definitely a consideration for us when we visit again.

“Disappointing stay at an old creaky hotel with excellent staff”

We booked at the Jungfrau Hotel for four nights and stayed three nights. We checked out a day early mainly down to the poor weather. All the staff are fantastic, friendly and helpful. The owners have plans to demolish the hotel next year and rebuild a new, more disabled friendly apartments. Apart from the staff unfortunately losing their jobs, I'd say knock it down now and start work. With the photos on their website, I was expecting rather nice accommodation with a nice restaurant on the ground floor. What it turned out to be was an old creaky hotel. Lovely view of Jungfrau from the balcony. Bed was excellent and comfortable. The room was clean. Weird, cramped shower/ toilet room with a separate wash basin in the room itself behind a hanging separator. So you couldn't wash your hands after going to the loo and had to open the door to walk around to wash your hands. Before we arrived we were offered a half board deal, but the menu was limited and luckily we chose not to take if at 38 Swiss franks each pet night. In reality, the restaurant wasn't fully staffed and we never eat there at all, apart from breakfast. Restaurant wasn't really open at all apart from some customers who took up the half board deal. Luckily, plenty of other restaurants around. When I went to reception to inform them we were leaving early, there was a sign saying staff weren't available but pick up the phone in reception. I did and just heard that the hotel was actually closed and another member of staff would attend - which they did to be fair. Overall, I just think the hotel was only partially open for the few guests staying. Definitely wished I stayed somewhere better. Come back when it has been demolished and rebuilt.
