“Fabulous family ski weekend”

We loved our weekend in the Alpengold. It was one of the first trips away with our baby, and the staff at the Alpengold made the weekend great. The kids' club was amazing, the concierge team sorted everything we needed, and the babysitting service was great.

We stayed at Alpengold Davos for ten nights over the New Year period, booking two rooms. It was a significant investment, and we came with correspondingly high expectations. In terms of rooms and overall comfort, the hotel performs at a genuinely high level. Our rooms were very spacious, beautifully designed and extremely comfortable, with excellent beds, generous wardrobe space, good lighting and plenty of sockets and storage. The bathrooms were large and elegant, with walk-in showers, high-quality fittings and very good amenities. Everything felt well thought out and practical as well as luxurious. Housekeeping was outstanding. The rooms were meticulously cleaned, supplies were always refilled without having to ask, and the daily turndown service with fresh water and chocolates added a lovely finishing touch. Sleep quality was excellent: the hotel was very quiet at night, the corridors were calm, and even during busy days we never heard other guests. Service throughout the hotel was consistently warm, professional and flexible. Whether it was extra hangers, bathroom accessories, a forgotten toothbrush or transport requests, everything was handled quickly and without any fuss. The shuttle service to the ski lifts, the hotel’s own lounge at Parsenn and the transfers to and from the train station made logistics very easy and stress-free. Breakfast was very good, with attentive table service for coffee, tea and egg dishes, high-quality bread and pastries, and a wide selection of hot and cold options. One small disappointment at this price level was that freshly squeezed orange juice was not included and had to be ordered at an extra charge. The spa and pool area are elegant and well run, and the massages were excellent, especially from the in-house physiotherapist. However, while everything was pleasant and professional, the spa did not quite reach the “wow” factor one might expect at this level of pricing. Where the hotel truly shines is in its top-end dining. La Muña is an outstanding Peruvian-Japanese fusion restaurant with exceptional food, a beautiful modern atmosphere and first-class service. We were so impressed that we returned for a second evening. Atelier Vert is equally remarkable in a very different way. Its highly original, deeply regional fine-dining concept, based on preserved and fermented local ingredients, is ambitious, creative and beautifully executed. It divided opinions at our table, but one of us considered it one of the best meals of the entire stay. Restaurants like this are one of the reasons this hotel genuinely deserves its five-star status. Not all of the hotel’s restaurants reach that same level. Sapori, the Italian restaurant, is pleasant but uneven, with very good pizza but disappointing pasta and a New Year’s Eve dinner that felt underwhelming for the price. The Cheese Factory, a raclette concept on the terrace, has good ingredients but falls short in atmosphere and execution and does not live up to its promise. Nuts & Co, the hotel bar, was a lovely surprise. It has a relaxed, stylish atmosphere, excellent service and food that, for a bar, is genuinely very good. It quickly became one of our favourite places in the hotel. For families, the hotel offers a dedicated teen room with games and equipment, as advertised, although during our stay it was mostly empty because no structured teen programme was running. The Kids Club itself was fully staffed and clearly very engaged. When we spoke with the team member in charge towards the end of our visit, he explained that they had tried to set up activities for teenagers and listened very carefully to our feedback and to our daughter’s suggestions. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and it was clear that the team was genuinely motivated to improve the offer for older children. Davos itself is not a particularly attractive town, but the surrounding mountains are spectacular, and the hotel does an excellent job of making access to skiing, cross-country trails and transport easy and comfortable. Conclusion: Alpengold Davos offers excellent rooms, truly outstanding service and two exceptional restaurants that lift it into the top tier of luxury hotels. It is not perfect, and at this price level some areas could be more ambitious, but overall it delivers a refined, comfortable and genuinely five-star experience.

Super friendly and highly professional staff. I accidentally booked the wrong date without realizing it, and the front desk was incredibly helpful and rebooked everything without hesitation. From the moment you arrive, you feel genuinely welcome. The lobby staff is extremely attentive and supportive, and the team at the bar and — especially in the restaurant La Muna — is outstanding: warm, friendly, and professional throughout. I rarely write reviews, but this experience was truly astonishing and absolutely worth mentioning.
