The staff here were exceptional. My wife had broken her wrist the night before in another town and when we got to St Moritz the provided exceptional help to us. First they took us from the train station to the hotel to get checked in. Then a very kind lady (owner?) drove us to the hospital. After we got back they made sure we were ok. Breakfast was nice Dinner was very good. Service at dinner and the bar area were also very good. I highly recommend

Lovely experience. First of all: it's the people. the gentleman on the desk was really kind and covered everything well at check in, which was nice as I was arriving late. Others will criticise that it's an older building, but it actually has character and a quirkiness and an authenticity . If you want a chain hotel generic 4 to 5 star experience, then go elsewhere. this actually seemed what I would have thought of as Swiss experience.. The Downsides: The room was small, but you get what you pay for and it was really all I wanted. Breakfast could have been a little more imaginative and a bit more modern - - - but it was only CHF 15. I think in most places an option on Low fat milk would be nice. Scrambled eggs were overdone (but hard to get right anywhere unless cooked from start,) and the tureen was very very oddly placed in the room. Pet peeve, the Orangejuice tasted like "concentrated Orange Juice:, whereas I think most people would expect "not from concentrate". Everything was scrupulously clean, if older, and a nice redevelopment effort within the confines of the building, though I'm not sure I'd have used the log like coffee tables in the room which are more like an obstruction to trip over. Notwithstanding it was St Moritz, the pricing was high, Overall a really really good experience. I'd love to go back sometime. They're very tuned into that a lot of their client group will be for the Glacier Express and they offered I think free transfer for the train timings, but it was only a 25 min walk

Nice location, just opposite the Cresta Run and within walking distance of the village centre. Lovely views. Rooms were a bit small and stuffy, but breakfast was nice. The Hotel Bären is a traditional establishment in a good location in St. Moritz (700 metres from the funicular; during the high season, a shuttle bus runs approximately every 15 minutes). It meets the minimum standards of a 3-star hotel. Parts of the building have been renovated in recent decades, but for the most part you can still sense the faded glamour of days gone by. The staff are generally friendly, though not always particularly warm. The rooms are clean and functional. Our room was equipped with a safe, but no key was provided. It is therefore somewhat inconvenient to deposit small valuables in the safe at the reception. Breakfast is very basic, with eggs subject to a charge depending on how they are prepared. The late opening of the dining room (07:30) is inconvenient and makes it difficult to leave early for the cable car to the ski resort (which starts operating at 07:45). The quality of the hotel’s evening restaurant can also be described as basic. The swimming pool is designated as a sports pool and is therefore kept at a temperature of just 28 degrees Celsius. It is therefore less suitable for warming up after skiing or for children. Given that the hotel has 103 beds, the sauna in the basement is rather small (approx. 5 square metres), although the steam room is a reasonable size. The hotel has a spacious gym, though it is equipped with only a single, rather old treadmill (with missing foot straps) and a multi-gym. A particular drawback of the hotel is that there are not enough ski boot warmers for all guests. It should also be noted that a penalty charge of CHF 10 applies if you forget to take your room key with you. Ultimately, you will need to weigh up for yourself what you expect from the hotel, taking the room rates into account. To illustrate our observations, I have included some photos.
