We stayed at Hotel Astoria during our visit to Lucerne in March 2025 as part of our Globus tour, and it was easily one of our favorite stops. This hotel strikes a great balance between modern luxury and an unbeatable central location. Location: You really can’t beat where this hotel is situated. It was perfectly convenient and within walking distance to almost everything we wanted to see—most notably, we were just steps away from the iconic Chapel Bridge. Being that close to the heart of the city made our short time in Lucerne so much more productive and memorable. We were able to check out a number of brew pubs in the area. Accommodations: The rooms here were impressive—especially the amount of space we had! After traveling through Europe, having a room with a ton of space to spread out was such a treat. Another huge win was the Nespresso machine in the room; as a coffee lover, it was much appreciated for a quick caffeine fix before heading out. The only semi-negative was the bed setup; our "king-size" bed was actually two twin beds pushed together. This is common in Europe, but they did tend to slide apart a bit during the night. Amenities & Nightlife: The rooftop bar is an absolute must-visit. It offers incredible views of the city, and the drinks and tapas were excellent. A fun surprise was that the bar actually turned into a nightclub later at night, which added a great energy to the hotel. Despite the nightlife vibe, the service remained top-notch throughout our stay. Overall: Between the spacious rooms, the great coffee, and being steps from the Chapel Bridge, Hotel Astoria is a fantastic choice for anyone visiting Lucerne. We’d stay here again in a heartbeat! 🇨🇭🏔️☕

“Great stay at the Hotel Astoria Lucerne - Wonderful Breakfast.”

Overall we had a really nice stay at Hotel Astoria in Lucerne. We did NOT hear any noise from the rooftop bar over the weekend, the room was very nice and clean, and the breakfast was delicious. Overall we had a really nice stay at Hotel Astoria in Lucerne. We did NOT hear any noise from the rooftop bar over the weekend, the room was very nice and clean, and the breakfast was delicious. I really loved their coffee machines, and the to-go cups were a nice touch as coffee is expensive in Switzerland (5 CHF ($6.50US) for 1 shot of expresso at most places.) Also, the room price was very reasonable by Swiss standards, and we received a nice room upgrade. I would come back to this hotel.

This is an upscale hotel that is located in the heart of downtown Lucerne. This hotel is surrounded by mountains, close to its lake boasting crystal clear waters, the historic old town, and famous Chapel Bridge. Shopping and ding are also within walking distance as well. I was lucky enough to get a corner room that had lots of windows so I did not feel claustrophobic. The bathroom was wonderful too and the bed was comfortable to sleep in as well.

“Noise factor ruins an otherwise great city hotel”

First the good: the rooms are spacious, clean and stylish. Great shower. The location is great, short walk to the train station and tons of restaurants, very central. Breakfast was standard hotel buffet. Would've liked to see more regional products at this price point, but it was perfectly ok. Now … more

First the good: the rooms are spacious, clean and stylish. Great shower. The location is great, short walk to the train station and tons of restaurants, very central. Breakfast was standard hotel buffet. Would've liked to see more regional products at this price point, but it was perfectly ok. Now for the not-so-good: TOO LOUD. We couldn't get to sleep until about 2am due to noise from both the attached bar/club and the loud street noise (revving engines, screaming partygoers). For the quality level of the hotel, this was really a shame because it tainted my whole experience. The other negative for me was the lack of a bathroom door. Although at least the bathroom is not visible from the rest of the room, there is no actual door so you can hear everything going on in there. I prefer privacy and a door. It was also a bit weird that the minibar was in the bathroom. All in all, probably wouldn't stay here again, at least not on a weekend. Too bad, because it has many things going for it otherwise.
