We absolutely loved this hotel for so many reasons. We stayed here as part of a trip with my husband. It was his birthday during our stay here. First, they upgraded our room to a larger room category. Super clean room and we loved that they provided two branded glass bottles for water at the hotel that we could refill in the room or downstairs. Minibar is included as well. The room was a great size for two people, the comfiest hotel bed of our trip, and a decent shower and bath products. On his birthday, they put a happy birthday banner on the door and put a little gift in the room with balloons. The hotel restaurant is highly rated so we decided to spend one our nights having dinner there. We really enjoyed the food and wine and what they do for birthdays from the table decor and entertainment was a surprise and very much appreciated. I’ve never seen a hotel that went to such great lengths to make someone feel celebrated on their birthday. Some other highlights of the hotel: it’s a direct route to the hotel from the train station on paved sidewalks so you are super close to the main areas of Lucerne while also being in a quieter more residential area. Super easy to get back and forth to the train station if Lucerne is your base while visiting Switzerland. The hotel is very close to local grocery stores and restaurants. We didn’t have breakfast at the hotel. We did have a wonderful breakfast at the Two Hands restaurant around the corner. We also really enjoyed Cafe Tacuba (our favorite coffee we tried while in Lucerne). While this hotel might be a little further away (only a few minutes), it makes up for it in customer service and the little details.

We had a great experience with Cascade Hotel. The family room (two adjoining rooms) was clean and well appointed and perfect for our family of four. The hotel breakfast was great! The location was an easy ten minute walk to the old town and the hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. I would stay there again and recommend it!

“Not in OLD TOWNE”

Very clean with very nice staff but location not great to me. This is not in Old Towne, its about a 10-12 minute walk. Very clean with very nice staff but location not great to me. This is not in Old Towne, its about a 10-12 minute walk. I was expecting a location adjacent to Old Towne, but this is really in the city. Close to train station but you do not see the charm of Old Towne until you walk. Also, this is supposed to be a higher end hotel but not by American standards. The rooms are small and very industrial looking. I want to recognize a LOVELY waitress named Amelie who worked the breakfast buffet on 3/23 and 3/24. She is so kind and made sure to have my gluten free bread ready for me. She also comforted me because I was upset about something and I was so touched by it. She is WONDERFUL!!!

We recently stayed at Cascada Hotel and overall had a lovely experience, which makes this review disappointing to write. The hotel is charming, in a good location, and within walking distance to town. We especially appreciated the bikes. However, our room had a sharply slanted ceiling positioned directly next to the bed, which created a real safety concern—especially in a room meant for three guests. I hit my shoulder twice, and more concerning, my son hit his head multiple times. One instance was quite hard, we were worried about a concussion, and he still had a visible lump for several days. I did mention this to staff, but due to a language barrier and the timing of our departure, changing rooms wasn’t practical. After our stay, I contacted the hotel. While they were polite, they declined compensation and instead offered a future upgrade—which, as an international traveler, is not a meaningful resolution. This was not just a matter of preference, but a safety issue that resulted in injury. I’m sharing this so future guests, especially families or taller individuals are aware.
