Continental Parkhotel Lugano is probably the best choice to stay in Lugano and Ticino as well. First of all, location, just next to railway station (really a few meters, if you arrive at track 4 you don’t even need the stairs, platform leads you directly to a very short walk to hotel entrance) and therefore easily reachable from most of Switzerland and Italy, especially Milan. Furthermore, Lugano station is the main transport hub of Ticino (trains, buses, FLP and funicular) and consequently you can get around the City and its Canton again very easily thank to the extremely efficient, comfortable and reliable transport network and the “Ticino Ticket” provided to every hotel guest and allowing you to use all transports within Ticino for the entire duration of your stay. However, both Lugano historic center and Lugano Lake are just very few minutes of a nice walk to go. Then the hotel itself: a remarkable and classy late XIX century building surrounded on three sides by a romantic, neoclassic style park, inside furnished with antique furniture and fine finishes but nevertheless equipped with all the most modern services. Hotel has an irresistible, distinguished “old money” charm, its vibes are sophisticated and elegant, solemn and sober at the same time, luxurious but at the farthest you can get from kitsch. Rooms are very comfortable and quiet, you might be worried about getting the view on the city center and the lake, but actually even back view is very nice because of the park and mountains behind it. All rooms have balconies and ground floor ones have direct access to garden. Breakfast is very good, abundant and tasty, breakfast area is charming, a wide and light veranda “belle epoque” style with a view on city and lake. There are also another sumptuous dining room and many other rooms with piano or other nice equipment. All common spaces are spacious and with high ceilings. Outside, a pool with solarium is fully enjoyable in the warm season, but park all around it is 365 days a year. Staff is extremely nice, kind and efficient, prompt and professional (English, German, French and Italian are assured, and for some members other languages too), furthermore you still somehow get the vibe of a warm family management, but on a wide, professional and high profile scale which offers you the same level of service of the main international hotel brands but on a more “private” and somehow more exclusive way. Fares are fair, good value per money ratio. In few world’s cities I’d point a specific hotel so undoubtedly.

An elegant, comfortable family-owned hotel very conveniently situated near the railway station and the funicular down to the city centre and lakeside. We had a third floor room in the main hotel with a splendid view of the lake. Excellent breakfasts and good value happy hour drinks from 5 to 6pm on the rear terrace. Extensive grounds with mature trees leading up to the outdoor pool and sun terrace, vineyard and winery! Highly recommended

A very beautiful, older hotel, exquisitely furnished and only a five minute walk to the train station. I stayed in the “annex” for two nights and in the main building for one. Annex rooms were very plain and simply, but clean. My room in the main building was bigger, more nicely decorated and updated. I had personal and uncertain situation that I never knew whether I needed my room for another night, yet the kind women at reception were very understanding, kind, and accommodating and worked with me each day to help me. Excellent breakfast.
