We often drive to Italy and stop en route so we are always looking for a reasonably priced hotel in Switzerland which is not easy. We booked this on the day directly with the hotel. There was no last minute deal and it was not cheaper than on booking which is always a shame, We were in room 20 which was large, modern with a balcony and a view Staff were friendly and we liked the location and general feel of hotel. Let downs are the lack of tea and coffee facilities in room. We had to order tea at the bar which costs 4.5 chf for a tea. Another let down is the breakfast. All little things wrapped in breakfast. Mainstream mass market hero products. No eggs. Just not what we are used to in Switzerland Overall a decent stay and we would consider it again at the right price

“Great location and nice hotel, slightly expensive”

Nice hotel. The toilet was not very clean, but very good experience overall. The breakfast was satisfactory, the location with view on the lake and vineyard is great if you want to visit the cities near by (Montreux, Lausanne, etc.). Maybe slightly expensive.

We arrived at the hotel on a Sunday and had already been advised that there were no reception staff working on Sundays and Mondays. We had received an e mail in advance of our visit advising us to collect our key from the desk. The instructions were not very clear and we were unsure as to where we could park. Our room was quite dark and there was a prominent stain on the foot runner on the bed. There were no tea and coffee facilities which baring in mind reception and the restaurant was shut, there was nowhere we could find to get a drink. There was a fan in the room but wasn’t really useable due to the volume and amount of dust. The location of the hotel is near the fernicular which is really convenient and the view of lake Geneva can be seen which was stunning. The location was very peaceful and we had a good night sleep. The price we paid included breakfast and we felt overall the cost of the accommodation was very reasonable for Switzerland prices. Overall we were a little disappointed since this is advertised as a boutique hotel but felt quite basic.

I don't know exactly where to begin with this. Let's point out at first, that the room (for two) was around 150.- CHF per night, just to set up the stage. But what do we get for that money? The hotel was NOT fully booked when we arrived. You could easily tell by the amount of customers having breakfast in the morning that there was still some rooms available. And yet, they decided to give us one of the rooms on the 3rd floor, directly under the roof. With a wooden ceiling and some angles. During a very warm September with up to 27°c during the day - and no AC in the room. So things got pretty hot actually which was definitely not a pleasant feeling. It didn't help either that the room itself is not too big. A decently sized bed, a minibar (empty), a safe, a tiny TV, 2 chairs and a tiny desk plus to bedside tables. It didn't even have a wardrobe, just some hangers for coats and such. No wardrobe. What the actual f*** ?! The mattress was on the harder side, but that's always subjective. We didn't particularly like it. At least everything was clean, just as the very small bathroom. You could hardly turn around in there, it almost felt as a phone booth with running water, but without a phone. Not great, but it served its purpose. Definitely not enough space for your personal items and utensils though. The restaurant is only open on 4 days a week, which is a very weird concept. At least they serve breakfast every day, albeit not a great one. Basically it's all of decent quality, even the bread (which is more than other Hotels can claim), but the variety us just not there. Some cereal, two types of meat, 2 types of cheese, a bit of fruit, eggs, yoghurt and 5 different kinds of bread. Go nuts. It's okay and gets you fed, but I would not dare calling it a good breakfast. Sort of the same goes with diner, if you manage to catch one of the 4 days they are actually open for business. It's all cooked well, but the portions could be a notch bigger sized. Plus, all the dishes sound very fancy on paper, but the taste doesn't really match that picturesque description. But it seems that 'making it sound fancy' is their way of setting up the prices. A pork chop with a handful of veggies and some polenta for 40.-? That's steep. Last but not least we got the 'service quality', which is basically nonexistant. Some of the staff speaks English and some German, whereas others only speak in French. I might be alone with that opinion, but if you work in a touristic place, a 2nd language can be expected, even if it would not be perfect. But the language barrier is just the tip of the iceberg. If you check in on MO or TU, there is no reception. You are emailed a code for the door and the key to your room lies on a table at the entrance, for anyone to pick. The reception desk is never occupied at all. It's the staff from the bar/restaurant that handles this part as well. So when you check out, you just hand them your key and that's it. Cutting corners, eh? That's one way of doing it, just don't have a freaking reception at all. Wow. Sometimes during the breakfast it was almost impossible to order some more coffee, as the (only!) waitress just didn't even look at you. I understand that you got quite some work if you have to handle the breakfast all on your own. But aside from the drinks it was all on buffet and no orders had to be taken. Plus, I rarely saw more than 5 tables busy at once. So it should be manageable to be a little more attentive and check if your customers would possibly need something. Similar situation at diner. There were only 2 servers and it took way too long to actually clean off the table after we finished our plates and if we wouldn't have called for service, we would have waited even longer. If you actually manage to catch the staff (and you might even understand each other) they are very friendly. There's no argueing about that. But the level of service was actually not there. In short: if you're just on the lookout to spend some nights in a clean room without ANY extras at all, this serves exactly that purpose. But for that alone, 150.- are way too much. You can get exactly the same level of room- and servicequality in Hotels that are 50.- less per night. Not recommended.
