Well located near the metro and in a quieter part of town, yet with expansive lake views. Beds were extremely comfortable—with all the heavenly pillows I felt like I was sleeping on a cloud. Room darkening blinds and shades were excellent. Very cool in the room thanks to A/C in the middle of a heatwave. The breakfast was a wonderful experience, huge selection and high quality with wonderful service from Lucia. Check in from Emma was great—she was warm and authentic, a huge asset to the hotel. Wilson on the bell desk was professional, helpful, and ultra competent. The only thing that lets it down is the brasserie restaurant. Staff were wonderful but food was extremely average, if that. Steaks were a complete letdown, tartare was sparse and not seasoned enough. Eat elsewhere, but enjoy the incredible hotel.

We’ve been to Lausanne many times and stayed in hotels at various price points over the years, but the Lausanne Palace is our favorite. At this point, we would not stay anywhere else. The Lausanne Palace is wonderfully situated in heart of Lausanne near shopping, restaurants, the Old Town, sites, etc. but if you get a room with a balcony (highly recommended), you can still enjoy the wonderful lake/mountain views that Lausanne is known for. We’ve stayed in Ouchy and while it’s lovely to stroll along the lake, it’s quite touristy and you need to take the metro to get to the train station or shopping district. We prefer to be closer to the action where we can easily walk everywhere. Our room was huge (we were upgraded without asking), had an expansive balcony, double sinks in the bathroom, and two showers – a stall shower and a shower/tub combo. Most important, it was the only hotel of the 5 hotels we stayed in on this trip that had “American level” air conditioning! What a delight during the latest heat wave. We found the staff to be welcoming and professional. The hotel has an old-world elegance feel without being snooty. If you have a car, valet parking is available at 40 CHF/day and couldn’t be more convenient. The spa facilities were immaculate and the sauna and steam room were nice and hot – as they should be. We enjoyed breakfast each day on the lovely landscaped terrace with a view of the mountains. The buffet breakfast was well stocked with a large enough selection of options (including GF bread) so you certainly won’t go hungry. Our only suggestion regarding breakfast: while we appreciated having coffee served by the wait staff, we would have liked to have had a self-serve station as well so we could quickly grab a refill. Overall, the Lausanne Palace makes for a comfortable, convenient stay and it is our #1 choice when we visit Lausanne.

Overall I have to say I am happy with my stay at the Lausanne Palace and would gladly return. Here are a few objective findings that stood with me, both positive and negative: POSITIVE: -Staff was extremely alert, and extremely warm and friendly, greeting me by name, asking about my stay, offering their assistance. By far much nicer and more professional and welcoming than many other LHW properties. In this aspect a 10 out of 10. -Spa facility was also good. -The hotel gym was EXCELLENT! I have never seen a luxury hotel with such a full and well equipped gym. The equipment and free weights were like my private gym I go to. The gym was fully air conditioned, and had a large space. It made my 3 hotel workouts a great pleasure. Here I give Lausanne Palace an 11 out of 10. Far exceeded my expectations. NEGATIVE: -I booked a junior city suite which did not have a lake view. I was staying for my 40th birthday and mentioned if possible if I could get a lake view upgrade. There was no mention of this at checkin and I got the room I booked. This is not an obligation of the Lausanne Palace, and technically I could have used my category upgrade from LHW which I did not and that was my mistake. It would have been nice if they did this since it was a special occasion and I asked. Other LHW hotels have given me nice upgrades without asking when I mentioned staying for a special occasion. But at the least the hotel could have mentioned the other categories are full and we cannot do this. -There was construction near by which made sounds that entered my room and the breakfast area that was very unpleasant. This is also not the hotels fault and out of their control as the construction is by the city; but this was not pleasant to deal with. -I wanted to make reservations for each night at one of the 3 restaurants: La Brasserie, Le Matcha Picchu and La Table; and have drinks at the 2 bars: La Bar 1915 and Le LP`s Bar. However, when I stayed at Lausanne Palace, both Le Matcha Picchu and La Table were closed for summer break/creative pause as well as Le LP`s Bar. When I go to an LHW property, part of the appeal and experience is to try the different restaurants and bars they have. However, when your hotel has 3 restaurants and 2 bars and 3 out of 5 are closed at the same time that really is not good. I understand the restaurants need breaks and creative pauses, but surely they could stagger them so at any given time at least 2 of the 3 restaurants are open while 1 is closed
