This hotel is not in the old town but it is still relatively convenient. From the airport, you take train S16 to Hardbrueke (2 stops). From the hotel, you take tram 4 from Technopark to the main train station in 8 stops (10 mins). This hotel is within walking distance to the rental car pickup, and a large Coop is just across the street from the hotel. The room is big. The bathroom is small. Water temperature is not consistent but this is not deal breaking. The last time we were in Zürich, we stayed at Sheraton which is very good too. But if I come to Zurich again, I would stay here.

We stayed at ibis Zürich City West for one night while visiting Zurich, and it worked well as a straightforward place to stay for a quick stop in the city. We had a triple room, which was a good size and worked well for our needs. The room was clean, tidy, and comfortable, with enough space for luggage and a good night’s sleep after travelling. It wasn’t luxurious, but it had everything you would expect from an Ibis hotel and felt well maintained. In terms of location, the hotel is about a 20-minute walk from Zurich’s main train station, which makes it reasonably convenient if you’re arriving by train. The area felt easy to navigate, and although it’s not right in the historic centre, it’s close enough to reach the main parts of the city without too much difficulty. Our stay was very short — we arrived late in the evening and left early the next morning — so we didn’t get the chance to explore the hotel or use any of the facilities such as the restaurant or breakfast service. For us, the hotel simply served as a comfortable overnight stop. I would recommend ibis Zürich City West if you’re looking for a clean, reliable hotel for a short stay in Zurich. It’s particularly suitable if you just need somewhere practical to sleep before continuing your journey.

“Would not use Ibis again.”

small room and no fridge, no tea kettle and no safe in room. pretty cramped. There was no gym in hotel but for $15 per day I could use the gym in the adjoining hotel which is ridiculous. Front desk staff did not try to accommodate for requests. I would not stay here again.

Good but not great! I guess the saying ' you get what you pay for ' Is paramount with this hotel. And I think that's exactly what our experience was. We knew we had a good deal. We also knew we were trying to save some money on our stay in Zurich so this hotel made sense. Location is good for train station access which is another reason we booked as we had two big cases and didnt want to lug them further than needed. If you want to be near to the centre/old town you will have to pay for the tram or have a decent walk on your hands. The room was small. If you want more space I suggest you pay for a bigger room. The room was clean but could be cleaner. I found it odd that no kettle was in the room. I understand they dont want people cooking in rooms but been able to have a coffee or tea in room should be a staple. Having to go to the reception for hot water seems more like what you would expect from a hostel. Breakfast wasnt particularly enjoyable. I think because they have the 2 hotels into one Breakfast room it was very busy and cramped in the seating space. The food options were good. It kind of felt like a canteen rather than a relaxing breakfast. But again you get what you pay for. Odd that you are asked to clear your own plates away. I think that might be management been tight and not getting more staff. I would like to highlight one member of staff. I sadly didnt catch her name. She was the young girl who was working the front desk of Breakfast morning of friday 13th and Saturday 14th. She was lovely, so friendly and extremely hardworking. I actually think she was overworked. She needed some more help from another member of staff. She was doing everything. My husband did notice another member of staff leaning against a wall near the kitchen. If this is the case and they are allowing the young girl to do all the work thats a shame. But she really was a credit to the hotel. She deserves recognition. So like I said at the start of my review. Good but not great.
