We had a wonderful 5-night stay at the Zurich Marriott Hotel! Ahead of our arrival, we requested a renovated room away from the train station and were delighted with room 2508. It was exceptionally quiet, offering a partial view of the Limmat River and the hotel's rooftop beehives. It was fascinating to watch the bees, and learning that the hotel makes its own natural honey. We even received a lovely sample, which was a special touch. The room itself was well-appointed with a comfortable king-sized bed, a small table, a refrigerator, a coffee/tea maker, and excellent shower water pressure. The bathroom also included a convenient makeup mirror and an motion-sensored night light. The location was ideal. It was peaceful and removed from noisy main streets, yet close enough to walk to major sights. The main train station was just a 550-meter, 8-minute walk away. The M Lounge was fantastic. The service was wonderful and friendly (thank you, Jake!) and breakfast offered a wide selection, including pastries, yogurt, fresh and dried fruit, cereal, bread, smoked salmon, cheeses, scrambled eggs, hash browns, chicken meatballs, chicken sausage, mushrooms, and baked beans, alongside various milks, juices, and coffees. I loved the thoughtful addition of a large TV displaying beautiful photos of Swiss regions like Lucerne, Uri, St. Gallen, Ticino, Valais, Bern, and Appenzellerland. My only critique is that it would be great to have two different photo compilations to rotate every other day. The only minor downside was the parking fee of 42 CHF per night, though we knew this when we booked. It is simply the cost of having a car in Switzerland. Ultimately, having a vehicle was worth it for our three-week trip, allowing us to take day trips to Konstanz (Germany), Schloss Lauffen, Schaffhausen, Annecy (France), etc. without the hassle of schlepping our luggage on public transportation. I highly recommend this hotel, especially if you have M Lounge privileges!

We planned a number of excursions during our trip so needed a hotel near to the train and bus stations. This hotel was perfect – under a 10-minute walk away and completely quiet. It’s also right next to the river where we could swim with the locals. We stayed in a beautifully refurbished two double bed room. It was spotlessly clean and spacious. During our stay in Zurich, the heatwave reached 39 degrees, but the hotel’s air conditioning was perfect, keeping our room cool and comfortable. We also had a fridge to store our drinks. The breakfast was fantastic, offering a wide range of options including eggs made to order. The friendly staff made our stay even more enjoyable. Compared to other five-star hotels in the area, this place offered great value for money. We’ll definitely be back the next time we visit Zurich.

As a hotel it's perfectly fine and has all the usual Marriott bells and whistles. The location is not as good as it seems. Lots of construction along wide adjacent streets makes it surprisingly annoying to get to on foot, with luggage, from the train station, even though it's very close as the crow flies. It's across the river from the Landesmuseum, which is nice, but otherwise not very many interesting or useful businesses or sights in the area. The parts of Zürich you actually want to see are at least a 15 minute walk south along the river. Our room had an adjoining door, which unfortunately accentuated the noise coming from our neighbors at about 1AM. Especially annoying as we'd been told we were upgraded. From what exactly? I'd be willing to sacrifice a river view for a quiet room. Also the elevators are punishingly inefficient. Be prepared to wait or take the stairs. Not a horrible experience per se but I expected them to run a much tighter ship than they do here. Would much rather stay in a family-run place near the lake in the future.
