Great hotel across the street from Taichung Park. Wheelchair accessible room is windowless as advertised however is very well equipped. Roll in shower with fold down seat, grab bars in shower around sink as well located at toilet. 4 foot sliding door into bathroom. Lots of clothes hanging space with both lower and upper hangers. Clothes hooks in bathroom. Only negative… the towel rack is high on the wall however room attendant will pit on to shelves beaide aink if aaked.

We (three persons-me, husband, adult daughter) stayed for two nights at the Holiday Inn Express Taichung Park towards the end of March. We usually book direct on the hotel's website, but our credit card had some incentives and the rates were competitive, so we booked with our credit card. Our stay was very good. We arrived early (9:30AM) and our room wasn't ready. Hotel staff kindly offered to hold our luggage and we went walking around Taichung to get some breakfast, snacks, and lunch - ice cream at Miyahara's Fourth Credit Union bldg,, 十八路甜甜圈製造所 rice donuts, Sun cakes, Taichung Meatballs, and 85c Bakery for donuts and a tea drink. Hotel's location is excellent. Close to the rail/bus, but not the HSR-High Speed Rail, which is a bit far. Since there were three of us with luggage, an Uber from the Taichung HSR to the hotel was about NT$348. The hotel's location was very convenient to walk around and go to all these different food places. It's also close to the Michelin Bib recommended Chin Chih Yuan (Central) which can have a long wait, so recommend that you get there around 10:50AM and wait for them to open at 11. There's also a Jiguan fried chicken nearby. The bus stop to get to Sun Moon Lake is right there outside the hotel although we didn't use the bus. We hired a private driver through Go Taiwan with Chun, (highly recommend!) to pick us up after breakfast. The driver took us to Hohocha Tea farm, Sun Moon Lake for most of the day, then to the Giamei Wetlands before sunset and dropped us off at the Fengchia Night Market (it's kind of far from the hotel and most of the main city!) for more eats! Our driver even took our purchases (kind of heavy since we bought teas, vinegars, and other goodies) and dropped them at the hotel for us, so we didn't have to lug it around the night market and were able to enjoy all the great food! The hotel breakfast was not fancy but actually quite good and had lots of local foods, which we enjoyed. As mentioned earlier, staff were nice and efficient. I needed some change to do laundry (two washers and two dryers available) and was able to get coin change at the front desk. We always bring some laundry detergent, but if you forget there are dispensers in the laundry room so you can purchase some. There is a fitness room which we did not use, but it was kind of small. However the Taichung Park is right outside, if you like to jog or walk for exercise. Room was good. Not sure but we did get a larger Family room (1111), but that could be possible upgrade because husband is an IHG Platinum member, so the large spacious room was nice! Two large and comfortable beds, TV, sofa (although the sofa could be cleaned better as there were crumbs below the cushions), large walk in closet, in room safe, desk, mini fridge, bottled water. There was a snack basket with a sign thanking for being an IHG Plat member, so a nice welcome gift for their elite members. Our room faced out towards the street and had a nice view. If you are a light sleeper though, it might be better to request a room that faces inwards towards the atrium as the street noise in the morning can be loud. However, we're fine with some noise and had no problems. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at the Holiday Inn Express Taichung Park. Excellent location, staff, breakfast, convenient laundry and if we return to Taichung, we would stay here again!

“Good hotel with good location”

Staff at the front desk are good and friendly . They were knowledgeable and approachable. However was disappointed with the supervisor on the morning shift . May be she is a little bit lack of EQ. The location is very good , near to Taichung Railway Station and close to the shopping area .

We stayed there for a couple of days as stop between Tainan and Taipei and also in order to go to the Sun Moon Lake. The location of the hotel is really great for going to the bus to the Sun Moon Lake as the bus stop for it is basically directly next to the hotel. The hotel is also in walking distance to the main train station (which is n o t the HSR station !) and to many sights as well. The Taichung Park is directly next to it. The room was clean (our one was facing the side from the park) and big. Beds were comfortable. As also others wrote the rooms are ok, but lacking a bit of "atmosphere" for feeling "comfortable/at home". The breakfast was good but also the breakfast room was not very inviting a bit like a cantine feeling. All the staff was friendly. Also the bathroom was big enough and clean, however when somebody needs to go to the bathroom at night this will enlighten the whole bedroom as there is a transparent wall from the shower wall in the bathroom. Would we book there again - yes probably, when going to the Sun Moon Lake this would be our first choice as it is really convenient with the bus stop.
