City Suites - Kaohsiung Chenai

“Good accommodation experience.”

Nice hotel, with a large room and a large bathroom. Balcony overlooking the port and part of the city. Large dining room with a good selection for breakfast. However, I found it a bit out of the way in relation to the city's main attractions (temples, Lotus Lake, etc.).

The hotel is conveniently located near the pier, making it easy to explore the area.

I'd stay at this hotel over and over again. First of all - the location is the best. It's right by the Love River and by the train stop. I'd stay at this hotel over and over again. First of all - the location is the best. It's right by the Love River and by the train stop. I'd say it's also in the art district where you can view some nice piece of arts . The entire area is an old industrial one, made up of old industrial buildings. But that it's entire charm. You can also cross the bridge which is right across and get to the other side of the river. The hotel was a great choice. I read mixed reviews, however the negative ones were not relevant. I am so happy I chose it. The room was big and clean . They come to clean the room daily , they ring the door before , however, you have an option to press a button if you don't want to be disturbed. Although the bathroom has no door that separates it from the hallway, there is a glass door at the toilet and the shower. They also provide toiletries and house slippers. The room was quiet and very clean. They had coffee and tea complimentary , as well as free breakfast. There were many choices, just ne mindful that the breakfast ends at 9.30. Keep in mind that the hotel has rooms with no windows , so if you'd like a view, you'd have to pay a little extra, not much though.

Stayed for a night with a group of 10. We had three rooms right next to each other. I think each floor has 60 rooms which is quite large! Fortunately, ours were located just across the elevators. Kaoshiung was the last leg of our trip, and coming from impressive 3-star hotels in Taipei and Taichung, this one fell just a little short. I wanted a hotel near Pier 2 and any train station plus eligible for the Taiwan Tourism accommodation voucher. This is the only one that fit my needs. We arrived at Dayi Station at around 3PM and it was extremely hot. We followed Google Maps and walked to the hotel with all our luggage. We get to the hotel lobby, and bam, we were at the wrong City Suites. We walked past City Suites Chenai because it has no visible signage by the door. It's only signage was at the top of the building and cannot be seen when walking below the building. It's only visible when you're across the street. We were also kinda bummed that this hotel did not offer free snacks unlike all the other ones we stayed at in Taiwan. The rooms were also dark with just yellow lights, but they were spacious enough for 3-4 people. The AC took a while to cool off the hot room, but we slept comfortably at night. The sink, toilet (with Japanese bidet), and bath were separate areas which is always nice when sharing the room with 3 other people. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the breakfast buffet was nice. The redeeming quality of this hotel was the view! Our rooms had balconies facing the Kaoshiung Music Center. It was beautiful especially at night. There were lots of cute artsy shops to explore in the area, but we didn't find many restaurants, just bars and bistros. We decided to have dinner at Takao within the hotel. We arrived at a little past 7, and was immediately told to order quickly because they will close at 9. The menu was in Chinese only, and I found that many people in Kaoshiung were not as patient as the people in Taipei, which can be a problem if you can't speak/read Chinese. Overall, it was an okay place to stay the night.
