So I did not realize that this was a theme hotel, so imagine our surprise when we entered our "Spider-man" room. For an old couple we had a good laugh. Any way it was a very large room with separate sitting lounge area. The room/bathroom was clean and the bed was comfortable, afternoon tea you could take cakes and snacks back to your room. The Staff were friendly and google translate was a real help. On the second day we got in the second elevator with out afternoon tea when the elevator broke down between floors, we pressed the emergency button to alert the staff. We were probably stuck for around twenty minutes before the staff managed to pry-open the doors then there was a scramble to get a ladder so we could climb out - it was no big deal all good for us, but from then on every night we had a group of staff turning up at our door in the evening giving us fruit and cakes and apologizing profusely, it was really nice.

“Large double rooms at a good price and close to station”

Hotel is just a short walk from MRT Formosa Boulevard station so a good location. Large double rooms with settee and dining table. Good quiet air conditioning and hot shower. Good breakfast and hot snacks. Excellence service received from the reception staff

Our hotel room was big, had a sitting area and a small dining area. The room itself was spacious and nice and we liked the extra space. However the layout of the suite was not that good. Bedrooms were small and not enough plug points in the bedroom. Not enough space to keep our clothes in the bathroom. The hotel lobby itself feels dated and the carpet too, but once we entered our room, it was nice. The location did not really matter much to us and was fine. We just rented a car to Alishan one of the days and the other day took a taxi to Lotus Lake, so we really did not explore much of the surrounding area. But the area looked fine, with some restaurants near by. Couple of things can be improved on by the hotel. More vegetarian choices for breakfast. Giving the option of tea bags at breakfast. They have an already made pot of tea at breakfast which was something we did not want to drink because it has been brewing for some time. Just keep teabags near the hot water and we will make it ourselves, the way we want it. They do not allow you to take a cup of hot water from the breakfast area to your room either and we found that very strange. I had some tea bags in the room and wanted the hot water for that. Also they do not give extra pillows if you need them. I worked from the hotel and need extra pillows for my back support, but strangely they do not have them. Also the front staff do not speak any English at all, which made communication hard. The front lobby also does not have any coffee or tea, which most hotels in Taiwan did provide. It did not feel like a 4 star hotel but more gave a vibe and feel of a 3 star hotel. For our stay the hotel was fine with lot of extra space in room, but definitely room for improvement is possible in other areas.
