“Good stay in an historical building”

Fantastic building with a lot of history. Location next to the park and lake is very convenient. The rooms are very large and clean. Good service. Some rooms are a bit noisy and breakfast is fine but not many options. Overall a good and memorable stay.

Booked it last minute for family weekend. Located adjacent to Chengcing Lake, this property offers a direct privileged wooden path to the Lake area. That’s the main reason for our booking. Chinese-style hotel built in the 1950’s, but maintained ok. Hotel management has tried to increase the attractiveness to tourists, by building: 1. Wooden path that leads directly to the lake 2. Outdoor swimming pool 3. 2F cafe with view Sure it’s a success, with subtle points to note. 1. Wooden path closes daily at 5pm, beyond it you have to go around by foot for 20 min to return to the hotel. 2. Beautiful and grand, and monitored by lifeguard throughout the opening time. Located across from the hotel, a small driveway away. Change room is dated and not international standard. 3. Nice view, but you get the same view from your room if facing the lake. Under staffed. We ordered beef noodles, afternoon tea set, and the famous bubble tea. Beef noodle was great. Afternoon tea set was presented nicely but yucky, bubble tea too yucky (tapioca apparently soggy and overcooked) Hotel hallway is with dated red carpet, and has a moldy smell like that of an old hotel. Room decor are dated although clean, but we didn’t feel comfortable using the shower facilities, they just seem so last century. Hotel staff are nice and polite, lots of smiles. I recommend coming here for the close proximity to Chengcing lake, and for one-time experience. But I will not consider staying here again.

Should tourists visit this hotel even it is a ways from downtown? Yes, at least for one day. Apart from the historical aspect of it (wood parquet floors and large hallways) it has the most wonderful park and lake behind. Should tourists visit this hotel even it is a ways from downtown? Yes, at least for one day. Apart from the historical aspect of it (wood parquet floors and large hallways) it has the most wonderful park and lake behind. It is best enjoyed in the morning on a weekday when old couples are out meeting friends or exercising. What a wonderful way to see the Taiwan culture. Getting here wasn’t hard. It is about NT$150 from the Weiwuying MRT Station. They also have shuttles to and from the HSR station. Yes, some parts of the hotel are showing the age, but they are making improvements such as a wonderful new pool in back. If the room had an updated bathroom they would get 5 stars.

“Like an actress past her prime - with excellent service”

A classic old hotel with great features (parquet floors, classic Asian styles) but has not been updated for a while. Bathrooms old fashioned and worn. Huge rooms with a balcony but no view. However excellent staff who went out of their way to deal with requests, and surprised me with a lovely gift.… more

A classic old hotel with great features (parquet floors, classic Asian styles) but has not been updated for a while. Bathrooms old fashioned and worn. Huge rooms with a balcony but no view. However excellent staff who went out of their way to deal with requests, and surprised me with a lovely gift. Breakfast had varied choices.
