“Nice place to stay in a good location”

We liked this place a lot, it´s very quiet and green around. The rooms are a bit small and the beds are very hard (Taiwanese style). Breakfast is Chinese-style. It was quite crowded, even on a normal day.

My first experience staying at "homestay" or 民宿. I was lucky that I ended up with a good feeling. The location of 吉野渡假山莊 is quite remote and not easy to locate, especially at night but because it is far away, and has only about 5-6 rooms (I suppose many of the privately-run homestays are small size as well), it gives the "exclusive" feel. The room I stayed is of reasonable good size. complete with a toilet-cum bath room and more importantly the room has good view of the mountain (but I missed the sunrise!). Because it is a homestay, guests whom the owner called "优质贵宾“ have to observe house rules - basically three broad categories: cleanliness (as the owner is also the cleaner) noise control （Each door is labelled with the message: 好朋友， 欢迎光临。 请轻声说话， 关门请小心。）and being friendliness to the environment (节能减碳， 惜福。 出门请关水， 关电源喔！）. So it is quite an educational experience - good for kids these days. Breakfast is included in the price. Although I do not generally like to eat in hotels, this is home cooking that I totally enjoyed. The lady boss who is also the chef, has many interesting dishes that are local and unique, two of which I like most and have many serving, are the 风梨酱笋 and 菜脯煎蛋。 There are a few places nearby (within 30 minutes by car) that are worth exploring. One that I highly recommend is a nature reserve called "溪头自然教育园区 where one could walk in a natural park for several hours and enjoy fresh air.

Almost had the impression I made a wrong turn somewhere. It is not within walking distance of any restaurant or store so come prepared. Common Areas: I got the impression from the website that the compound was big. But in actual fact it isn't. I would describe it as a large home garden.....rather disappointed. Staff: Disappointing. When we checked in it was as though we were interrupting their rest time. The gave us the keys and vanished. Not quite what i expect from a homestay or B&B. Rooms were a little aged and toilet was below expectations. Overall: Nice clean air and views of the mountains. Food was average, accommodation was bearable and service was below average. Would I return? Probably not as there are other better options around.
