This hotel is just a short walk from the lake. We had booked a Quad room which was lake facing (was told that all rooms face the lake). View was simply beautiful. Room was big and clean with very comfortable beds. Hotel has a nice terrace which looks even better when lighted up in the evenings. They also have bicycles which we used extensively during our stay. Evone spoke very good English, and was super helpful going out of the way by guiding on must see landmarks and searching a vegan restaurant for us ( this hotel only offers breakfast). For meals, restaurants closest to the hotel are at the pier which is about a km or so. The walk is great and you could cycle your way too.

The Bamboo Rock Garden is a perfect match when visiting Sun Moon Lake if your purpose is to enjoy nature, serenity and local life of this national park. The reception staffs are welcoming and informative. They provided suggestions on hiking trails, photo spots and transportation details to Tai Chung. They even arranged a car to take me to the bus station at the Marina (水社). The room is stylish, spacious and offers a great view of the lake. The most enjoyable moments of my stay were 1) the super large tub which feels like you are bathing in a hot spring pool in the wood and overlooking the lake through the corner viewed windows; 2) the morning breakfast on the overhanging patio among the bamboo and looking out to the mountains and the lake is heavenly. Did I mention the free bikes? I'll come back in May to watch the fireflies.

“Huge VIP room, but not spotless”

Stayed in the VIP room, it was really expansive. The bedsheet had yellow spots so we got them to change it. The changed one was ok. Stayed in the VIP room, it was really expansive. The bedsheet had yellow spots so we got them to change it. The changed one was ok. Sofa had a few white patches here and there, not too sure what those were but it didn’t give me an extremely clean feeling. Breakfast spread was decent, with a mixture of the usual western (scrambled eggs, sausage, hashbrown, salad) and local (porridge, noodles, soy milk). There are some tables at the side where there are good views of the lake while having breakfast, which was nice.

“Pictures are deceiving ”

I was only here for one night. My stay was pleasant enough. Though I have to say my room looked nothing like the rooms advertised. I did have a room with a view and the view was lovely. I was only here for one night. My stay was pleasant enough. Though I have to say my room looked nothing like the rooms advertised. I did have a room with a view and the view was lovely. But the hotel had a very old school feel. It looked like a hotel you would find on the Costa Del Sol in the 80s. There's no real warmth to the hotels interior and I could almost be in an office building. The room as very much the same, but then having said that it was blooming big with two large double beds. The room was clean enough. The location of the hotel is decent enough and you're meters away from the lake. The hotel have bikes you can take out, which I recommend as the best way to see the lake. But take my word for it, going round the whole of the lake will take you a few hours. The staff were so friendly and helpful, they were properly wonderful. Breakfast was ok, I get the feeling that they usually offer a buffet. But due to the fact that there only appeared to be me and one other couple. We all appeared to be given a tray containing eggs, fish, vegetables and fruit. Which turned out to be plenty. I would recommend this place. But don't expect your room to look anything like the photos.
