I arrived after an overnight flight from Brisbane early in the morning before 8am and with a 3pm check in time I was resigned to a long wait which I was expecting especially since the hotel was full the night before but while I was sitting in the lobby I saw what I assumed were 3 check outs and around 9am the lovely lady on the front desk walked over and gave me the card for my room 1001 which was fantastic and much appreciated. The room was great, with a huge comfortable bed dressed with crisp white linen, a good sized TV with international stations and free movies, a practical desk with outlets and space to put things. The room was a good size for the price and had a comfortable easy chair and another chair at the desk. The bathroom was another large space and had everything you could need including one of those hi-tech automated toilet. In a separate glassed in area was a large shower and soaking tub with a big window to the street that luckily has a block out shade. One feature was a free smartphone that they provide in each room which is totally free to use for phone calls local and international, internet and all the other things a smartphone can do which is very handy as I usually get a local SIM card when I travel but for a few days in Taipei I wasn’t going to bother. Breakfast was included in my rate and taken on the first floor and was ok and as expected had more Asian than western options and provided enough to start the day and given that I didn’t leave the hotel until around 10.30am each day I was there was welcome and avoided the need to try and find something in the for breakfast in the area. One small issue was the window in the bedroom and while I wasn’t expecting any expansive view from this city hotel the view to the street would have been much better if the widow hadn’t been so dirty. I was only here for 3 nights and while the hotel is only a short walk from a metro station which will get you anywhere I am not sure about the actual location as far as walking goes as I just never got my bearings anywhere in Taipei. The hotel is on a busy street and there are a number of restaurants, coffee shops and 7-11 type stores and I felt safe walking around at night. Overall I really enjoyed my stay here and found all the members of the staff I had any dealings with fantastic.
