We decided to visit Taipei at the very last minute for New Year 2020 and didnt have a clue as to where to get a decent hotel. We settled on this City Suites hotel. It turned out to be a blessing. The hotel is very comfortably located close to subway stations and a few landmarks such as the Taipei 101, the Night market and one of the oldest temple. As a bonus, there is a gorgeous trail / park by the river nearby that's perfect for walks or runs even at night. You will find the locals playing basketball or walking around even late at night. Public bathrooms are everywhere. It's very safe. The hotel is located east of the city center but the abundance of local sites as well as mom and pop restaurants make this a perfect site. Prices are usually cheaper in this part of the city since it is away from the expensive areas. In terms of food and shopping, I encourage fellow travelers give the many mom and pop restaurants and shops nearby a try. The street food is so cheap and very good. Discovering another culture through food is the perfect optic. You will find convenience stores such as 7-11 or Watson for necessities. There is a catholic church right across from the hotel for the ones of you who need a moment of reconnection with the high being. The hotel itself is very comfortable with all the amenities that a traveler would need. The rooms are spacious and modern. The AC is powerful. The water pressure is perfect. I wished they had a gym with some weights but the nearby park is a nice substitute for cardio. The hotel has a very reasonable breakfast buffet special. The staff is really friendly and helpful. Bryan, Henry and Iris were always very professional and provided us with invaluable assistance to our questions. This hotel and its staff has won our heart. They were so good that we decided to extend our stay here for the entire period.

“We would like to stay again”

Excellent location in a wholesale district. Also has a lot of local food stalls, hole in the wall cafes to chill within walking distance. 15mins walk to Ningxia night market. In fact, this hotel is much better than some other 4/5 stars hotel I’ve ever stayed in Taipei .

“Nice clean room”

Near to the metro station and 5min walk to Raohe night market. Room and toilet are clean. Laundry service is available too.

“Know what to expect”

I chose this hotel based on proximity to famous night market, size of room , bathtub and price. All those elements held. I found the room gloomy in colour, decor and view mere metres from a highway ramp. We might as well have stayed in the windowless basement. The room was always too cold … more

I chose this hotel based on proximity to famous night market, size of room , bathtub and price. All those elements held. I found the room gloomy in colour, decor and view mere metres from a highway ramp. We might as well have stayed in the windowless basement. The room was always too cold and the thermostat does not allow for programming. I used the space heater they gave me which helped but was not as effective as a customary thermostat. Cleanliness left much to be desired. Daily room cleanup seemed to be restricted to straightening the sheets and replacing the towels. As well, the public toilet, which was for use if you were in the reception area or dining room was actually disgusting despite my pointing this out a few days in a row. The garbage was overflowing. I’ve met friendlier reception staff.
