“Great stay!!”

Really great stay. The location was perfect for visiting Taipei 101 and the pool facilities, breakfast and the facilities were impeccable. Would stay here again! Also attention to detail they left a teddy bear for my son in the room.

“Detailed review from a couple of food-loving Aussies.”

The Grand Hyatt Taipei provided us with a much needed private oasis at the start of our long RTW trip from Australia. The staff are indeed wonderful, as we had read in reviews, and that influenced us to book this hotel over others. Our room was extremely comfortable and cozy, with plenty of roo… more

“Ideal location and strong amenities at a reasonable price.”

Heading into our stay, we had pretty high hopes for the property, and on the whole, the Grand Hyatt did not disappoint! Traveling with water babies (son 8, daughter 5), the pool is an absolute must, and the Grand Hyatt pool is tremendous. Although it doesn't have a hot tub and only 16+ can enter th… more

  • Yes, guests at Grand Hyatt Taipei have highlighted that: We (adult daughter, husband, me) had an excellent four night stay at the Grand Hyatt Taipei the end of March. Usually, we'll book direct on the hotel's website but our Am Ex credit card had a competitive rate and some added incentives to book through their portal so the first three nights were on Am Ex's travel site. And we used a Hyatt certificate for the 4th night since it was expiring the beginning of April. This Hyatt is very large with their site saying 850 rooms. It's next to the Tapei 101 building (covered walkway, but stairs) so you can eat, shop, go to movie theatre, etc. and get to other buildings such as Shin Kong Mitsukoshi on the elevated and covered walkways. Very convenient. It's also next door to the Taipei World Trade Center building so in addition to being a popular hotel for tourists, lots of business people stay here. Spouse is a Hyatt Globalist and we booked a regular room but no suite upgrade on this stay. We know that suite upgrades are not guaranteed (if you need a suite, book it) but nice when it happens! Hotel did seem very busy and probably a lot of other Globalists and people booking the suites, so not a big deal. We did get an upgrade of a room with a view of the Taipei 101 building and the room was ok. The hotel's staff provided excellent and friendly service. The bellmen, front desk, club lounge and housekeeping staff were all very nice and helpful. We went to Costco to buy a larger suitcase for our daughter (she bought more gifts than anticipated...) and one of the Hyatt staff rushed ahead to get an elevator and hold it open for us. When we left for the airport, doorman talked to our Uber driver to ask him to drop us off at T2 and our daughter at T1 so that was very helpful! In addition, our daughter wanted to go to a restaurant but wasn't sure how to make the reservations. Owen in the Club Lounge, kindly called the restaurant and got the details and made the reservation for us and explained all the details. Breakfast choice for Globalist is either the club lounge or downstairs in the main restaurant. Since we were on vacation, we weren't in a major hurry and would get to the restaurant around 8:30 or 9. We didn't have to wait but we did notice that there were aisle stanchions and rope (like the airports or Disneyland!) so the restaurant must get pretty packed during peak breakfast times, so plan accordingly if you need to be somewhere. Food choices downstairs were good. Typical western items like pancakes, waffles, breads, pastries, bacon, ham, eggs, fruits, juices. And a good choice of local noodles, rice, baos, siu mai, soups, etc. There wasn't too much rotation though the Asian specialities seemed to vary slightly each day. The Club Lounge breakfast was simpler but looked ok. There's also an afternoon tea, but nothing exceptional and we recall that the Bangkok, Singapore, or Kuala Lumpur hotels seemed to have a wider selection. The evening cocktails and appetizers were substantial enough to be considered a light dinner, but it's fun and easy to go out to eat with lots of food in Taipei. Our room 1843 was ok. It did have a nice view of the Taipei 101 building and there was a welcome amenity of apples and cookies. After the second day, the shower drained very slowly and started flooding the bathroom on the third day so we called the front desk and they sent up maintenance. We also informed them that the toilet would run and smelled like chlorine, so maintenance worked on that too. The Grand Hyatt Taipei is nice, but does need to be refurbished as the room looks and feels somewhat dated with the carpeting and furnishings. Hopefully they will start remodeling the rooms, as we would return for another stay because of the excellent location and great staff.
