Really great stay. The location was perfect for visiting Taipei 101 and the pool facilities, breakfast and the facilities were impeccable. Would stay here again! Also attention to detail they left a teddy bear for my son in the room.

The Grand Hyatt Taipei provided us with a much needed private oasis at the start of our long RTW trip from Australia. The staff are indeed wonderful, as we had read in reviews, and that influenced us to book this hotel over others. Our room was extremely comfortable and cozy, with plenty of room and a luxurious large bathroom with a bath! We highly recommend the Cheers restaurant at ground level, it's top quality and generously sized meals make it a standout destination for comfort food. It's far from cheap, but at our age, (late 50s) one meal was plenty between two people. The breakfast buffet at the Cafe restaurant is a good mix of western and asian foods, with lovely waitstaff who remember you, and are always smiling. Check out the omelette making station with chefs only too happy to accommodate myriad requests. The same buffet hosts dinner (roughly NTD1700) which we enjoyed on one of our nights there, the Indian food and roast beef (and a German Hefeweizer Beer on tap!) being the stars of the show for us. However, strangely, despite 4 hot drink machines, not a hot chocolate in sight. The dessert bar was a particular highlight, with serve yourself Haagen-Daazs ice cream (although disappointly no chocolate :). My wife was a little concerned with the hygiene of serve yourself, but I'm more chilled (every pun intended) about these things. Be sure to grab a couple of the tiny french-style pastries though. The chocolate-cherry cake was a winner, a suprise in a world of poor quality Schwarzwalde kirschtorte impersonations ... The pool on level 5 is well-maintained, with lane ropes allowing swimmers the opportunity for laps (a rarity in hotel pools). The gym area is supplied with plenty of weights, mats, towels, water bottles, exercise machines, spa rooms and spaces for classes - we tried out the core class (fabulous) and the dance class. Interestingly, if you're a westerner trying the class, good luck, because it's all in Chinese, they don't stop to demonstrate any moves, you're not allowed to talk, and it seems there's a cohort of local women who feel they 'own' the class and edge you out. A very strange situation for an experienced dancer stretching her wings. The architecture is of course beautiful and the whole place has a warm, quiet vibe which we loved.

Heading into our stay, we had pretty high hopes for the property, and on the whole, the Grand Hyatt did not disappoint! Traveling with water babies (son 8, daughter 5), the pool is an absolute must, and the Grand Hyatt pool is tremendous. Although it doesn't have a hot tub and only 16+ can enter the sauna area (bummers for the kids), the pool was heated to a fairly warm temperature, and we used it every day. We booked a larger King-sized room that was perfect for our family of four, although it didn't get a bit tight and we would recommend bringing a small inflatable mattress for families with older children or wigglers. The location of the Grand Hyatt is very solid and accessible via the Red Line. Uber Eats delivery is tremendous and reasonably priced as well.
