“No-frills but very decent stay”

We were on a budget for our first trip to Taiwan and wanted a nice aesthetic and also bidet toilets. Not so easy to find but this hotel delivered. Great location. Hotel connected to Hilton and Caesar Park, so this would be the budget version of the 3. Well-designed if the rooms are a bit small. Nice to have a water dispenser on every floor. The tap water in Taipei is so tasty, better than any I've had anywhere in the world, and the water dispenser had to have only improved it. Front desk were mostly aloof and not the most helpful but at least it was constantly staffed 24/7. The hotel is also connected to the MRT via flyover aerial walkways you can use to shield yourself from the rain and sun. The train system in Taipei is cheap, clan, efficient, and runs on time. It was a breeze getting around. There's a high-end mall and mid-range mall within a 5-minute walk of the hotel. The high-end mall has a much better food court. Also made a point to go to the nearby Costco, their food court blows away the American ones as well as Korean. New Taipei City was nice and cheaper than staying closer to Taipei 101 plus the MRT can get you anywhere and fast. We tried to hit up a few night markets but the rain but a damper on them. Fortunately, the Ximen MRT station stop isn't far and is a hip nightlife district with lots of late night eats and a Don Doki Jaapnese hypermarket. Didn't bother researching a ton of restaurants, just downloaded the Michelin app and boy oh boy, will you ever be spoiled to find some of the best and cheapest spots anywhere in the world on it. Most places are cash only so be sure to get NTD. Also take the airport bus vs. the train. Dealing with luggage and going through MRT turnstiles is a PITA. The cost is about the same for both anyway, about $6 USD. And if you want to try the best soft serve ice cream in the world, look for Cremia. It's a Japanese import, and if a bit pricey at $5 USD for a cone, it's simply the best and can be found at Taipei 101 and some train stations. Can't speak enough about how great their transport is. Way better than any other I've experienced anywhere in the world, and that includes Japan and Singapore's trains. Also do the e-visa ahead of time, even as a US citizen and you get 90 days, I forgot to do it and did it in the passport control queue. If you have Global Entry, you can go to the eGates and breeze right through. Also Taiwan takes their entry very seriously, and for good reason, they have some of the best pork in the world. So do not even think about bringing in any kind of thing that came from an animal, there are multiple warning signs everywhere. Taiwan is a special place and wasn't high on my must-see list, but it is now and want to go back and see so much more. Tons of great Taiwanese airlines offer non-stop service there to, from EVA to China Airlines to Starlux.

“Convenient location”

Booked via our travel agent as our first and last stops in Taiwan. It’s close to Banqiao train station, which was handy for our day trips and then our return by high speed rail from Chiayi. Booked via our travel agent as our first and last stops in Taiwan. It’s close to Banqiao train station, which was handy for our day trips and then our return by high speed rail from Chiayi. It’s a smallish room but comfortable. The Japanese toilets are a bonus. :-) Breakfast was included in our package and was a short walk to the hotel next door. Staff were friendly and accommodating. It’s close to some department stores and lots of restaurants.

“Decent hotel”

Decent location. Clean rooms. Not a fan of the bathroom design. Would have giving a higher rating, but what irked my is the e-mail I got after checking out. Decent location. Clean rooms. Not a fan of the bathroom design. Would have giving a higher rating, but what irked my is the e-mail I got after checking out. Housekeeping apperantly was missing a mug in the room and we were accused of taking it. We didn't, can't even remember that we had any in our room since I don't use them esp. not hotel room mugs - never know if they were ever cleaned or not. Lesson learnt: collect evidence you didn't take anything from the hotel room. It's a sad world we live in
