“Excellent breakfast and across the street from the train station”

"Best breakfast of my life!" said my son. "That was worth flying for 20 hours," said my daughter. That Saturday breakfast, plus the fact that it was immediately across the street from the MRT train station, were awesome. Also a nice room and bathroom with a sunken area. The Wifi worked. We didn't figure out how to get the TV going. The breakfast the next day wasn't as good, but we still had a good time. Staff was helpful, and we tried to communicate.

“Convenience”

Conveniently located across the road from the MRT station. There's a 7-11 around the corner and a Hi-Life and Family Mart not far either. Conveniently located across the road from the MRT station. There's a 7-11 around the corner and a Hi-Life and Family Mart not far either. Staff were very pleasant and helpful despite my lack of Chinese. A couple spoke reasonable English, so it was fine. The room was a bit tight, but still bigger than what you would get in Japan, but not quite up to Western standards. Clean rooms, everything appears to be recently renovated so all good on that front. My only gripe was that there's only one lift for the entire 8 floors of the hotel so it was the same one used by house keeping and guests - nothing wrong with that, but during peak times, it's a bit inconvenient and there's a fairly lengthy wait. Other than that, it was good value for money and I wouldn't hesitate staying here in the future if I'm back in the area.

Stayed here for several days while having meetings nearby. I stayed in a Standard Double Room. The hotel is just across the road from the MRT station, which is very convenient. However, the neighborhood does not have lots of good eating places, which can be an inconvenient for guests (the hotel's restaurant does not serve any food after breakfast). If you want choices, you will have to take the MRT to the next station (Beitou station), or even to New Beitou station. There is a 7-Eleven just around the corner, and some other convenient stores nearby, so you can get some snacks easily. The neighborhood felt a little like a small town, and was quiet at night, so there's no worry of noise at night. The room was quite small, but modern, well-maintained, and well laid out. The bed and pillow was comfortable. The room was well-lid, and the large window allows natural light to come in. There is a big window between the bathroom and the bedroom, which makes the room appear bigger than it was (you can lower a blind to create some privacy if needed). While the facilities were generally good, there were deficiencies in the details. For example, there were only 3 hangers in the wardrobe, and I had to ask the front desk to send more. There were no other storage space in the room, no drawers and other storage space for you to organize your stuff (so you'll literally have to lay out your stuff in the wardrobe, within the limited rack space). The desk does not have a drawer either. The bathroom was very well lit, which was good. However, there wasn't any hook on the walls for you to hang your cloths. You could put your cloths with the towels on the rack, or you could place them on the shelf under the sink, but both were really not good options. Breakfast was basically Chinese-style: Chinese buns, porridge, vegetables, etc. If you don't like those, your only other options are bread, butter/jam, fruits, and eggs. Breakfast is served from 6:30am, which is great if you want an early start to the day. During my stay there were not a lot of other guests, so the place was relatively quiet. During two of the days there were other guests who were apparently from mainland China, and they talked loud, made a mess, smoked in their room and filled the hallway with cigarette smoke (smoking is not allowed in the hotel, actually). Wifi was generally good. For unknown reason, though, the wifi on the floor where I stayed kept dropping out, and I had to ask the front desk to rectify the problem (this was a daily occurrence). Hotel staff were generally friendly and helpful. Overall, I had a pleasant stay. Could have given the hotel a better rating, if not for the details (which created inconveniences) that I mentioned earlier.

“Ok for One Night in Taipei”

We stayed here before heading to the airport after staying in Ximen for 3 nights and Hualien for 2 nights. It was okay for the price. It was a lot cheaper than staying in Ximen/Taipei Main Station on a Saturday so we chose to do so and relax at the hot springs on our last night in Taipei. It does the job, because it's clean and literally 10 steps from MRT Fuxinggang so close. But since it is so close to the hot springs, it does smell like rotten eggs your whole stay because of the sulphur, so beware! One night is fine, any more would probably be overkill because of the smell. The staff also reuse the cards over and over again, they're kind of raggedy looking and the walls are not that clean.
