My stay at Kimpton was truly exceptional! -rom the moment I arrived, I was greeteo with warm hospitality and impeccable service. Absolutely loved this hotel. The rooms are beautiful, modern and clean (and feature in room water filling stations!) and housekeeping does an impeccable job. The location is central but remains quiet despite busy area around. The staff were attentive and did a great job of anticipating my needs. Stay was nothing short of exceptional, hospitality was beyond five-star.

I had such an excellent week-long stay at the Kimpton Da An on my recent trip to Taipei, that I booked a second stay at the end of my trip for an overnight in Taipei at the end of my trip! This hotel has a boutique, personalized feel to it - from the chic rooms, to the excellent staff, to the central, local neighborhood location. It was low key luxury in the middle of the busy city, and I would recommend it to anyone. First, the room - I stayed in a King Premium Room, on a corner, and it was meticulously designed to make my stay relaxing. The bed and pillows were perfect. Convenient outlets next to the bed. The decor was modern and design-forward, with a unique tiled entryway and bathroom, and a great layout for maximum usefulness. I would recommend requesting a higher floor, to get a cooler view of the rooftops in the neighborhood, which feels very "Taipei". The only things I would nitpick were that the toiletries in room weren't the best and didn't match the vibe of the hotel - the smell of the hand soap and body wash were a really strong fake citrus smell - I wish this hotel had a brand like Grown Alchemist, Aesop or a local Taiwanese brand in the rooms. Also, the sitting area in the Premium Room is such an excellent touch, and really makes a difference in your stay - but I wished that the custom sofas were just a bit wider to make them more useful for actually lounging and relaxing on. The hotel staff were EXCELLENT! Everyone we interacted with seemed genuinely happy to have us staying at the hotel, never hesitated to help us with anything, and also went above and beyond to help us out - for example, when we were having trouble purchasing train tickets, the concierge (Liang) helped us by accompanying us to the nearby convenience store to purchase train tickets; and when another concierge (Charlie) helped us organize an afternoon reservation at a hot spring resort in nearby Beitou, and also gave us some great, personal recommendations for restaurants and sights in Tainan after we departed the hotel. Liang and Charlie - you made our stay so much better! The restaurant / bar and the staff there were also superb! We ate breakfast every day in the hotel's restaurant, a la carte as we didn't have it included in our room rate - it was affordable, varied and delicious - both the Taiwanese breakfast options and the Western options were delicious. And the crew working, including the team's manager, Mandarin, made us feel at home. I also remember one of our regular servers, Lyn, who was excellent! They greeted us every day, remembered our coffee order, remembered what we'd talked to them about, and the manager, Mandarin, took extra time to talk to us and give us her own personal recommendations for our trip to Tainan after Taipei! We also had cocktails at the bar in the evening - delicious. And last, the general vibe of the hotel property was great for a first time visit to Taipei. Taipei is wonderfully busy and hectic, and the Kimpton felt like a nice oasis at the end of the day - the hotel has a daily happy hour with free wine and beer and snacks, which we loved for a little hang out in the lobby or outdoor seating area that has a... waterfall and koi pond and beautiful landscaping (wow). There's also a great roof deck attached to the restaurant. And the location is wonderful - when first booking our trip, we didn't know much about Taipei's geography, but we are so glad we stayed in the Da An neighborhood - it is central, has a great local vibe, with a ton to do near the hotel from restaurants to shopping to parks to local Taipei life. The hotel is only a block from the metro station. It's on a side street. It was really amazing, and we're so glad we didn't stay in a more business-y area like Xinyi, where a lot of other international hotel brands are located. The one thing I do wish that the hotel had readily available was some kind of shower / spa for guest use; when arriving in Taipei from an international flight you often arrive early and before the room is ready, or guests are often leaving on a late departing flight and have to check out far before they have to leave for the airport - it would be great to offer a way for guests to freshen up after arriving but before check in, or after check out but before departure. All in all - this is a total winner of a hotel, perhaps one of the top three hotels I've stayed in, perfect for a home base while touring Taipei, highly recommended!

“Highly recommend!”

This was an absolutely fantastic experience! The check in staff and concierge are incredibly helpful and accommodating. Super friendly. The restaurant staff are super patient and will take the time to explain the different foods on the menu. I highly recommend.
