The whole experience was exceptional -- the initial greeting, continuing hospitality, physical attributes (building, room, salon/pool area, club, lobby, grounds, etc), food (freshly prepared, nice variety, beautiful presentation, etc, etc), cleanliness, and incredible warmth. Every time we departed or returned, the staff was there to assist and/or greet us. Incredible! Again, the personal interaction cannot be praised enough. Everywhere we went in the hotel (sauna/pool area, club, lobby, other areas around the hotel), it was as if they were waiting for us. And, the club consistently remembered our beverage and food preferences everyday morning and evening. Everyone was a role model in their professionalism and sincere interaction. Two individuals that we were fortunate enough to remember their names were Mika (concierge) and Nicholas (club). Their patience answering our questions and addressing our needs will be remembered. We hope to return.

The location in the Songshan district is far better than people give it credit for. There’s a common assumption that being near Taipei 101 is ideal, but I strongly disagree—it’s crowded and hectic. From the Mandarin Oriental, you can easily take an Uber anywhere in the city without dealing with that chaos. The overall atmosphere here is much calmer and more refined. Service was excellent across the board. Check-in was smooth, and the concierge team was genuinely helpful and attentive. The food and beverage program is a standout. Bencotto, the Italian restaurant, is especially good—I ended up dining there two nights in a row. In fact, the dining was so strong throughout the hotel that I didn’t feel the need to go out for meals. The rooms are another highlight. Even the standard rooms are extremely spacious—honestly larger and more comfortable than some suites I’ve had at the Grand Hyatt. The property itself has a beautiful, elegant European-style design, and the overall feel of the hotel is on another level. I’m very glad I made the switch, and this will absolutely be my go-to hotel in Taipei going forward.

As a loyal Fans of MO Silk member, I love the Mandarin Oriental brand. My stays at MO Tokyo, HK, and Shenzhen have always been absolute perfection. So, when we booked MO Taipei (under my spouse’s name this time with AMEX-FHR), I was expecting that same next-level luxury. Sadly? The service was a total letdown.... Luggage? DIY apparently. No bell staff stepped in to help us with our heavy suitcases when we walked through the door. Not exactly the 5-star welcome we expected from a 5-star hotel. The Check-In Chaos!! We wanted to stand in line to get our keys, but the staff insisted we sit down in the lobby instead (a fine gesture, thank you!). But because there was zero queue management, other guests just walked up, stood right at the desk, and cut the line. The staff checked the line-cutters in first while we just sat there waiting, even though we were there first. It felt incredibly disorganized and honestly, pretty dismissive. To be fair, the hotel itself is stunning, and there were a couple of highlights. The Pool: Genuinely gorgeous and super photogenic—definitely a vibe. In-Room Dining: The food quality was actually excellent. At this price point, you are paying for flawless service. Sadly, MO Taipei’s front-of-house service felt way below what you get at competitors like Grand Hyatt Taipei or W Taipei, which is where we stayed at previously and felt extremely welcomed. While the property is pretty, the poor service experience really discourages me from staying here again next time I'm in Taipei. MO Management, if you're reading this—the arrival team definitely needs some serious training!
