The hotel impressed us in every aspect from room, food, customer service. We were greeted warmly by any staff we have come across. There would be a staff coming forward to offer help whenever we seem to need a help (and we actually do). The house keeping staff arranged our charging chords using a band for organisation purpose. Something small but shows the details the hotel gives to its customer.

What a hotel! I've reviewed so many hotels in Trip Advisor before but I have never given a full 5.0 rating - this is the first time. There are so many things that impress with Mandarin Oriental Taipei I don't know where to begin. First the room. It's large, the heavy wood headboard (with matching ottoman as footboard) is elegantly crafted, the wall over the headboard has a nicely-designed relief over the fabric; the night tables are exceptionally designed, with slide out drawers; there are artistic touches everywhere - art frames near the work desk, sculptures on the shelves of the fireplace-like mantel, on top of which sits the TV; the ref, wine glasses, coffee maker and hot water kettle are inside another impressive dark wood cabinet with frosted glass panes; the night tables have drinking water and glass in anticipation of you needing to drink during sleep; a high-tech control console on the night tables control the curtains, the light, etc; so many complimentary water bottles; pressing the button to open or close the curtains reveal opaque divider screens before you see the clear glass windows; the flower vases have real orchids; the leather work chair is ergo but much more comfortable; there is a separate enclosure for the ladies' dresser with a mirror that had accented makeup lights; the circular tub beside the wash basin opened to the bedroom area via sliding doors with lace curtains; lots of plush towels; the bathroom mirror also had accent lighting on the sides; there is a separate stall for the toilet with its own basin; the bathroom stall had a grab bar, a sitting ledge, and non-slip tile work, aside from a mirror (who else puts mirrors in the shower?), and when you leave the room, the door is so heavy that there is no doubt that the door had closed. The corridors are elegantly decorated, with walk lights, decorative wall panels, and replete with art and sculptures. The elevators lobbies are also exceptionally designed, and the cars themselves are wrapped in mirrors, aluminum, and other classy design touches. Breakfast is on the 5th floor - and my, what an impressive place! The ceiling is high, the decor is extremely tasteful, the tables are arranged with enough spaces in between. Food is significantly varied, with lots of Asian style food - congee, beef noodles, ho fan, spare ribs, siomai, dumplings, simpas, asian black pork sausage (and this is for breakfast!) in addition to the typical continental and western fare. They also had a menu for you to order your eggs in any style. But what most impressed was the service. Everyone moved very quickly, you never waited long for a request, coffee was offered even before you could ask for a refill, the waitresses took out dishes as soon as you were done, a waiter saw me shake the salt shaker and he quickly arrived with a new full shaker - everyone smiled and asked if we needed anything - and the hotel was at full occupancy! The person at the breakfast reception saw us for the second morning and quickly recognized us form the day before - everyone was just so eager to please. The exceptional service wasn't just limited to the restaurant - even housekeeping impressed us. My wife left her make up stuff on top of the dresser as we went out for the day's tour and when she came back, they were all neatly arranged, place over white cloth squares that the housekeeper provided. I had my phone charger still attached to the outlet, with the cable lying on the floor; when I came back, the housekeeper had put a Mandarin Oriental cable velcro to keep the cable neat. Wow! When you enter, the lobby strikes you as quite small (though elegant, with accented marble and decor everywhere) but it's actually just for waiting for your ride. It leads to the reception area which is bigger. Then that led through a corridor that led to the elevator bank. The hotel shares the large magnificent building with the Mandarin Oriental Arcade, with high end shops like Richard Mille. And it sits on Dunhua North Road which is a classy avenue with lots of shops and malls nearby (we went to the Breeze Nanjing Mall nearby, as well as the Liaoning Night Market, also quite close).

Throughout our stay, she demonstrated genuine care, strong attention to detail, and a calm, confident presence in every interaction. What impressed me most was her ability to handle situations with warmth and composure, always maintaining a sincere smile and making guests feel at ease. The experience at Mandarin Oriental Taipei truly embodies the brand’s renowned “MO family” spirit — refined, thoughtful, and genuinely welcoming.
