They were super-accommodating with respect to our room needs, and they went above and beyond to find out the answer to a concern we had regarding a local merchant. They’ll answer any question and help you any way they can. 2. The hotel and our room were spotlessly clean. This is no surprise since the staff is so professional. 3. The hotel is convenient for exploring Taipei.

We recently stayed at MGH in Taipei for 9 nights as a couple and overall had a good experience, though with a few drawbacks that stop it being a full 5 stars. We booked a corner room, which was a great choice. The room itself was spacious with plenty of natural light and a nice view, and there were lots of surfaces to put things down which made longer stays much easier. Storage was slightly lacking (only five hangers), but manageable. The bathroom was well-equipped with high-quality toiletries and a modern Japanese Toto bidet. The location is excellent. Being right on top of an MRT station made getting around Taipei incredibly easy, with fast and frequent connections across the city. This was probably one of the biggest highlights of the stay. Staff were generally friendly and helpful throughout. In terms of housekeeping, we usually kept the room on do not disturb and requested cleans when needed, as we didn’t feel daily cleaning was necessary. We had four cleans during our stay, which was generally fine, though one did feel a bit rushed — the bathroom was well done, but the rest of the room didn’t quite match that standard. More broadly, the room had a slightly unclean feel, with visible carpet stains and a general sense that a deeper clean (particularly of soft furnishings) might be needed. There were a few other issues that impacted our stay. The bed wasn’t particularly comfortable and the pillows were very flat, which made getting a good night’s sleep a bit hit-and-miss. On our second night, one of us was bitten by something in the bed. We checked thoroughly for bed bugs and didn’t find any signs, so it was likely just an isolated insect (possibly a mosquito), but it wasn’t the most reassuring experience. Soundproofing is another weak point. You can hear noise from neighbouring rooms (we occasionally heard a child crying and some shouting), as well as traffic from outside — particularly the high-pitched sound buses make when indicating. We also had dinner at the on-site restaurant. The food was decent but nothing particularly memorable. We were advised to make a reservation, which felt a bit unnecessary as hotel guests. Overall, this is a solid hotel with a fantastic location and some strong features, but it doesn’t quite live up to the standard we’ve experienced with the MGH brand elsewhere. For the price point, we’d probably shop around next time rather than returning by default.

When researching where to stay in Taipei, I really struggled with choosing the right neighborhood. I initially hoped to stay in the Xinyi District, but ultimately selected the MGH Mitsui Garden Hotel because of its proximity to the starting point for two group tours I had booked—both with very early morning departures. For that reason alone, I’m really glad I chose this hotel. While it’s not located in the most “happening” neighborhood, the area is perfectly pleasant, and the hotel’s location is incredibly convenient. It is literally adjacent to the Zhongxiao Xinsheng MRT station, which made getting around Taipei very easy. My room was a good size by Taipei standards and perfect for a solo traveler. It included a desk, mini-fridge, and enough comfortable space to settle in without feeling cramped. The bed was large and very comfortable, and the shower was spacious with a rainfall showerhead—which I loved. The toilet was in its own separate water closet and featured the wonderful Japanese-style bidet toilet. Closet space was adequate, and I appreciated the daily replenishment of bottled water—two at room temperature and two chilled in the mini-fridge, which felt just right. The only downside for me was the hotel restaurant. My flight arrived late (around 9:00 pm), and I have a personal tradition of having a drink when I arrive in a new country—ideally before bed. Unfortunately, the restaurant was already closed. Additionally, there were no mimosas offered at breakfast, and overall the breakfast itself wasn’t very impressive. I wouldn’t recommend paying for it, especially since Taipei has so many fantastic dining options nearby. That said, the front desk staff were very helpful and kindly directed me to a bar just a few blocks away where I could enjoy my “new country” drink, which I truly appreciated. Overall, this is a solid choice if you want to be centrally located and plan to rely on the MRT. I'm not sure I'd stay here again, but that reason is not due to the hotel itself, more the neighborhood. I think if I visit Taipei again I would stay in the Xinyi area!

Stayed at this hotel for four nights as the first leg of an Asia trip with my wife. This hotel is a Japanese brand and they pay attention to detail on cleanliness and hospitality. There is a gender split onsen on the top floor - nothing to write home about and everyone is in the buff. This is a new hotel so it’s definitely not dated at all. However because it is new the rooms are extremely small as real estate is expensive in Taipei. While they make use of the space, as an American who is used to big spaces sometimes I felt like i couldn’t stretch. It was hard to move around with two people in the room. Bed was also uncomfortable on my back. Location wise hotel is on the same block as the metro and there is a bus stop in front. For us we took Ubers which was convenient and affordable. Hotel is placed in an affluent, residential area. Food is all local so you can’t go wrong anywhere. If you want to be closer to the action, food, or tourist sites, don’t stay here as it’s 20 mins away from these things.
