I stayed my first three days in Taipei at Suz & Catorze Taipei, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, my first time at this Marriott property. I was upgraded to a corner room with a river view, though the side window faced a nearby residential building, so I had to keep the blinds closed for privacy. The room was on the smaller side. The location is decent—about a 10–15 minute walk to Ximending and Dihua Street. There’s a free shuttle starting at 10 a.m. to Ximen MRT or Taipei Main Station (one-way only). Staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. Breakfast options were limited but decent. Minor downsides were the bidet (you have to turn on the heating manually) and a not-so-user-friendly TV remote. Overall, considering how expensive Taipei hotels are, this place felt affordable and good value. I enjoyed my stay and I will considering staying this hotel again next time.

Chose this hotel for my short visit to Taipei because of Marriott loyaly program. Overall good experience and would stay again. There's a lot to like at this price point: + Location is excellent in Ximending, short walk to lots of restaurants, cafes, shopping + Rooms are spacious for Taiwan, modern, extremely clean + Gorgeous river views (for some rooms) + Water and soft drinks free in minibar + Second floor lounge is nice, a convenient place to meet colleagues, and has tea and small snacks available during standard hours + Parking is available Things that are neutral or could be improved: – They were unable to provide late check-out later than 1 pm (standard is 12 pm, and I was asking for 2 pm due to my late flight out) because they said they were very busy and needed to clean the room. Fair. But I just sat in my room after 1 pm assuming housekeeping would kick me out eventually, although they never arrived. I left at 2 pm anyway. – More than half the time I would leave/return from my room, there was another guest loitering in the common space in front of the elevators, typically talking on their cell phone. While there's nothing necessarily wrong with this, it just seemed odd. I stay in dozens of hotels every year, and have never encountered another hotel where guests loiter in common areas so frequently. I don't know if this is a hotel issue, or perhaps just bad luck/coincidence. This is only worth mentioning because the common area is small, and room doors are thin, so the phone conversations were quite distracting at night.

The staff are friendly and professional. My room is a corner studio at 16th floor and therefore the view is great and the hotel staff told me I can see the fireworks from my own room.

“Only the riverside rooms are nice”

I have previously rated this hotel as 5 stars but that was after several trips where I stayed in a riverside room. Those rooms are great! I have previously rated this hotel as 5 stars but that was after several trips where I stayed in a riverside room. Those rooms are great! But this time I booked their "tranquil" room and was shocked to see that the only window was in the bathroom. Can't do a windowless hotel room for almost $200 USD. I asked to be moved to another room and it was on the same, non-river side of the hotel. That at least had a window in the main bedroom, but it was tiny and the view was of another building about 10 feet away. I ended up canceling the week I had booked here and moved to an Airbnb instead. Bummed to not get the Marriott points but I just couldn't do it.
