“Howard Plaza Hotel”
A solid if not somewhat dated hotel nearby great shopping (SOGO) and the MRT. Their breakfast is a tad pricey by Taipei standards but is really solid. The shower may feel a bit cramped. The family chooses this hotel all the time.

The rooms were very nice and the staff particularly professional. At one point staff did a great job reuniting me with my passport - accidentally left in a taxi at Taipei 101. “Classical hotel in good location”
I stayed five nights, my room was on 11th floor. The hotel is not new but I did enjoy my stay there: the room is quite big, attached is a bathroom with shower and tub and a shaving mirror!
