We stayed at the Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge for two nights during our 11-day safari in May 2026 with Top Nature Tanzania Safari. It was a wonderful stay deep in the Serengeti National Park. The lodge is beautifully situated on a hillside with sweeping views over the vast Serengeti plains. The entire staff was warm, professional, and genuinely helpful. We had a comfortable room with a private veranda overlooking the Serengeti. The rooms are spacious, clean, and nicely decorated with elegant African touches. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom had good hot water pressure, and mosquito netting was provided and effective. Room had portable fan and wifi. The food was excellent. Breakfast buffets were abundant with fresh fruits, pastries, cooked-to-order eggs, and local options. Dinners featured a wide variety of well-prepared dishes, and the restaurant staff were friendly and attentive. This lodge served as a perfect base for our game drives in the Serengeti, especially for the early morning visits to the hippo pool and excellent wildlife viewing. We would definitely stay here again on future trips to Tanzania. A great choice for safari groups.

“Stunning grounds, great views, abundant wildlife”

I have enjoyed all the Serena Lodges we stayed at in Tanzania but this one was the best. The grounds are beautiful. The staff is amazing. The food was great. They have entertainment at night. Full bar. Very comfortable rooms and a staff that is so responsive and kind. Great view of the Serengeti. Lots of wildlife on the grounds. Monkeys, bushbabies, Dik Diks. Saw Elephants and Giraffes and even a Leopard just of the premises as we headed in and out. Very nice pool.

“Beautiful Property With a Few Wrinkles to Iron Out”

This was my first stay at the Serengeti Serena. The buildings and grounds are beautiful, and the location is excellent sitting on top of a hill overlooking the Serengeti. We did encounter a few issues during our stay, however. We were greeted with warm towels and fresh juice upon arrival, and then quickly escorted to our rooms. The room was spacious, with a large, comfortable bed. There was no ceiling fan, but a standing fan was provided,and worked beautifully. There was also a large wardrobe, a desk, a sitting area, a small porch, and a safe for my valuables. I was in a lower level room, which had both pros and cons: on the plus side, I had pygmy mongoose, Dik Diks, Go Away Birds, Vervet Monkeys and other animals just outside my window/balcony. This was a lot of fun, and I got some up close photos. On the negative side, the view, while still great, was not as expansive as it would have been from an upper room. Also, the bathroom had an unfortunate smell like a backed up septic tank, and had obviously had some moisture issues at one point due to staining under the sink area. I don’t know if that is because it was a lower level room, or not. I reported the smell to the management, but nothing was done and they never followed up with me about it. The dining experience overall was good, and there were always lots of options. Breakfast was a highlight, with eggs to order and lots of fresh fruit, etc. One sour note is the general Serena Hotels policy of charging for the exact same bottled water in the dining room that you get included for free in the rooms. This doesn’t make any sense to me at all, and was frustrating, especially when compared with other lodges who simply provided regular drinking water at meals for no extra charge. Some of our group spent time at the pool, which was very nice, especially given its views out over the landscape. We also thoroughly enjoyed the live music in the bar area each evening.The musicians were both talented and engaging, and enlisted several of us to join them in the dancing. It was also fun seeing the wildlife around the grounds of the lodge, particularly the lively Bush Babies jumping through the trees! The last hiccup was when our group was checking out, and their credit card machine broke down. People were not all prepared to pay with cash, and those that could were left with almost no remaining cash, if any, as a result. It also delayed our departure, while we waited for them to try and resolve the issue. For a property of this size, it would be advisable to have a back up option in future. Overall, this is a beautiful property, and a good value for the money. The views are excellent, and the service is good. There just seem to be a few wrinkles that need to be ironed out.

“Beautiful hotel grounds”

The hotel grounds were beautiful and full of wildlife. The food and service was very good. Our room was nice, clean and comfortable.
