We had the pleasure of experiencing Zanziblue for seven days as a couple in September 2025. We deliberately chose the east coast with its beautiful vegetation and rather wild beaches. The small boutique hotel is located on a beautiful stretch of beach with many coconut palms, creating a tropical island feeling. The white sand is extremely powdery, inviting you to take long walks on the endless beach. The hotel grounds are slightly separated from the public beach and guarded, ensuring absolute peace and quiet from the sometimes intrusive beach boys. The hotel grounds feature an enchanting freshwater pool, a beach restaurant under a tent roof, several hammocks, and very comfortable loungers. The few rooms are spread across four beautiful two-story houses built in the local architectural style. Each house has a communal kitchen with a drinking water dispenser, which can be filled free of charge in glass bottles provided by the hotel. The rooms (we were allowed to stay in a huge attic room on the second floor with a large private terrace and a perfect sea view) are functionally furnished and have beautiful bathrooms. The only “criticism” one could mention is the rather weak Wi-Fi. The best thing about the hideaway is its culinary concept. The Swedish chef, who has been living in Zanzibar for over 20 years, conjures up fantastic fusion cuisine dishes. As a food lover, I must admit that I have rarely eaten better in a holiday hotel – it's amazing! There is also a small but finely curated wine list, mainly from South Africa. Breakfast is served as a buffet. Cereals, homemade breads (some sourdough), various pastries and croissants, fresh tropical fruits, smoked tuna or chicken, egg dishes and juices, as well as tea and coffee leave nothing to be desired. Lunch and dinner can be enjoyed in the restaurant, on the rooftop terrace, or on the beach. Everything is tailored to the individual needs of each guest. The warmth and friendliness with which the hotel staff treats guests is impressive. Everything is simple, every wish is fulfilled. We had a beautiful room with a view of the ocean, which made our stay truly special. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the restaurant was terrific—we enjoyed every meal. We’d highly recommend the private snorkeling trips they arrange, especially if you want to avoid big crowds. A couple of things to note for other travelers: the rooms aren’t overly spacious, which made it tricky to keep two suitcases open at the same time, and there were noticeably more mosquitos here than on the mainland, so bring good repellent. The only potential improvement would be if staff could take drink orders by the pool, so you don’t always have to walk to the bar. Overall, though, a wonderful stay in Zanzibar with great hospitality and stunning surroundings.

I stayed at Zanziblue for 2 nights on a solo trip. Every staff member was very friendly and welcoming throughout my whole trip so thank you! I had a wonderful drink on arrival in the relaxing reception area. I had a great massage (with fresh drink afterwards). I also went on 2 trips organised by the hotel (one was the reef tour and the other was snorkelling at Mnemba Island). Reception was very helpful in booking and the guides were great. You can also use things like water shoes and beach towels from the hotel. Every location to relax at the hotel is lovely whether in the room, balcony, beach or restaurants. The food was also incredible with a choice of 3 restaurant areas plus room service. I'd highly recommend Zanziblue and have already told lots of friends!
