After trudging through the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater, being in the hustle and bustle of Nairobi, Mwanza, Arusha and Stone Town, this was exactly what I needed. The atmosphere is incredibly relaxed and nice. The constant roar of the distant ocean has a calming and soothing effect. The rooms don't have a TV. It's on purpose and I sure didn't miss it. The food was excellent. The rooms very nice and clean. But, the best thing is the staff. I'm not sure I've ever met such friendly hotel staff. Everybody was super helpful, patient and quick to smile or share a joke. There's no question that if I find myself in this area again, I'd instantly choose this hotel.

Zanzibar Sunrise at Bandas was our favourite accommodation during three weeks exploring Zanzibar. We stayed in a beachfront bungalow with a private plunge pool and it was absolute paradise. The perfect balance between direct beach access and complete privacy. The beautiful garden terrace was like a secluded sanctuary, with our own sun loungers and space to chill. After mornings spent diving, there was nothing better than returning for a shady afternoon nap under the palm trees. The beachfront setup was also great with shaded sun loungers directly in front of our bungalow. Throughout our stay all we could hear was the sound of the tide rolling in and out. Falling asleep to it each night and waking up to it each morning was magic. From the moment I booked, the service was exceptional. Communication was prompt, warm and professional. When our flight was significantly delayed, the team seamlessly arranged for us to be welcomed and shown to our room at 3:30am without any fuss or inconvenience. Everything about this property exceeded expectations - the food, the atmosphere, the accommodation and, most importantly, the people. Every member of staff made us feel genuinely welcome and every day there was a different arrangement on the bed which added a nice personalised touch! A special mention to Musa and Utumbala from the bar/restaurant team, who made us feel at home from our very first day and continued to do so throughout our stay. Their laughter and hospitality are exactly the kind of vibe we love at a cool boutique resort like Bandas. We visited in early May during low season, which was nice and relaxing. Nothing was really open around us but the hotel had everything. The food was insanely fresh and absolutely delicious, my partner kept going back for the octopus and I tried every vegetarian dish on the menu, not a single disappointment. The local village surrounding is beautiful – the staff helped us hire a scooter to explore and cruise around and it was a great way to get around. We also did an early morning guided reef walk, which was interesting and worth doing. The live music one evening added another lovely touch to our unforgettable stay. This is the kind of place people travel across the world to find - peaceful, beautiful, authentic and effortlessly relaxing. It would also make an incredible location for retreats or wellness getaways. We absolutely loved it and would return in a heartbeat. Huge thanks to the whole team.

Wow! Just wow! We spent the last 8 days of our honeymoon here and it was everything we dreamed of and more. Room-We had a bungalow with a private infinity pool. Spacious and comfortable, hot shower, huge bed, roof fan, but the room stayed cool anyway - A/C definitely not needed. The private pool was wonderful - perfect temperature to stay cool but not cold. Restaurant-We intended to eat out a few times while staying. Silly us! The menu was amazing, filled with local options and western stuff if you wanted. But the seafood dishes were all amazing. We ate here every night. Breakfast was included and also great - generous portions! Staff-Everyone was so polite, joyous, attentive and on top of everything. Well drilled. Extras-We had several massages, all were excellent. Also went kayaking and swimming a lot in the sea and the two communal pools. Sunbeds everywhere meant you were never without a place to lie. They sorted tours to elsewhere whenever you want. Yoga every other morning with Farah was the very best though.
