I have stayed at My Blue twice, but sadly, after my last stay, I will not be returning. Pro's: - Excellent part/location/access to the Nungwi beach - Beautiful, well maintained gardens - Friendly staff - Beautiful infinity pool & garden pool - Service at bars and restaurant good Con's: - Rooms are outdated and basic - Our bathroom had mold and did not feel clean and sanitary - Gym facility's are not up to scratch and gym is unhygienic - Food was hit or miss - quite salty too - Safe in bedroom not 100% safe - items were stolen out of our safe while it was locked. Although we were partially compensated, we left without items we had come with and a feeling of personal invasion was not pleasant - During my first stay, an item of clothing was stolen too from my room - Beach towels grubby and in need of replacement - Noisy bats near garden

“Fabulous place - not that fabulous food”

A fantastic place. Nice location and surrounding. Seems modern and yet authentic - in our eyes. The staff was mostly very helpful, and smiling and happy. And what performances they always do. A fantastic place. Nice location and surrounding. Seems modern and yet authentic - in our eyes. The staff was mostly very helpful, and smiling and happy. And what performances they always do. Every night there where different kind of late night shows. After dinner, or during dinner. In different spots of the hotel area. Very impressive and so nice to be a part of and have experienced. The dinner evenings on the beach was no more than absolute fabulous. But sorry to say - the food was nearly terrible. We have been in some different parts of the world, in many type of hotels, and tried som different food. But this was, excuse me.. terrible. Almost everything tastet the same. The same grilled. And that was not good. We are so sorry for this, because of the nice people and fantastic hotel and place and surroundings. But unfortunately it did destroy too much of our holiday feeling this week. Ate at other restaurants nearby the latest days, and this saved us. We will still recommend you to go there, hoping that we were just unlucky. There are plenty of other place to eat and dine very close.

“For us, never again”

Really not happy with our stay here. The hotel is full of Italian package tourists who have booked all inclusive so the big event for them is the lunch and dinner buffet. Really not happy with our stay here. The hotel is full of Italian package tourists who have booked all inclusive so the big event for them is the lunch and dinner buffet. We don’t like all inclusive because we like to experience different dining venues and restaurants during our travels. Problem here is that if you don’t wear the all inclusive wristband, you’re almost looked down upon as if we would be the cheap tourists not willing to pay for a lunch and dinner buffet. We are well traveled and not even picky eaters but The menu for those of us not having their buffet is so limited and if such as or quality, it led to great disappointment: at high tide, you can’t walk along the beach to any other restaurant so you are trapped. The only thing on the menu which we found acceptable was a portion of French fries. If you don’t get up early and “claim a lounge chair” at the beach/infinity pool, there is no way to get one. They reserve them with their towels all day and even bribe the towel boys to put towels for them. We paid extra for an ocean view suite -there are only five of them. That means you are forced to hear the entire animation show every night until they finish between 10-11 PM. This was very distrurbing. The mattress was very very hard, but somehow we got used to it as there was no other choice. The room was fine, good water pressure, good hot water, and some friendly staff, especially Elizabeth in the restaurant. Infinity pool is nice with a beautiful view and a good temperature, and the beach is great. The main pool is nice. They have a gym but the equipment is old and worn. Pool and ping pong supposedly available until 22:00 but all the lights were turned off and there were no pool balls so it’s almost like false advertising. Housekeeping came to do our room one day at 4 PM, just when we had returned from a day out and we wanted to shower. We asked her to come again at 4:15 PM. We left the room at 4:15 PM, found her, topper her 10 USD, and when we came back at 10 PM, the room had not been done. I could go on. But to end this; if you book an economic all inclusive it’s probably great value. But as an individual guest who paid more than 300 USD per night , this place is far from elevated and I would definitely not stay here again. Note that we have visited 110 countries and stayed in accommodation of all types. We rarely complain and rarely write a negative review but due to our experience here, I was compelled to write this.
